In order to populate more factions on an insane map, I duplicated each race so there are 16 players. When creating the game, I made the duplicative factions each on their own teams (e.g. two Terrans on Team 1, two Iridiums on Team 2, etc.) Here is the problem: my teammate spams the communication channel every 5 turns or so thanking me for signing that daggum open borders treaty. I'm like dude, I know it's cool we're teammates and stuff, but quit telling me. I'm regretting team

Well, not really... but I find myself becoming irritated at my commerce and colony captains. For example, I tell them to go somewhere a long distance, they decide to travel there in a straight line and with much enthusiasm yet they think it is acceptable to end their turn within striking distance of an enemy fleet. Here are some examples: Scenario 1 (Problem) - I just told my best and brightest captain with 8 movement points to move from point A to poin

I'd like to talk about something less controversial, like galactic warming. There's this guy from the Terrans named Al Gore and he says...
Why do you have the impression that it is so important to the design of this particular game?
Perhaps because planets are spheres, not squares, and they orbit stars due to gravity. The point: the game is built within a universe that mirrors core fundamentals of our own universe. Realism is part of this deal; to what extent is subjective. Projectile cannons shooting unicorn horns or laser beams shooting candy canes might scor

Why does sticking multiple sensors on one ship increase the overall range of the sensors? Adding sensors would be like sticking motion detectors on my dog. First I get to to see the area around the dog, then the house, then the neighbor's house, and as I add more sensors I can see ten houses away. Use the same analogy with radar and the point remains. All of you who have added motion detectors to your dogs know the point I am trying to make. [e digicons]:dog:[/e] In short, a

Is it too late to ask for squares instead of hexes? I'm totally joking about squares. MOO2 turned me on to GC2 which turned me on to Stardock which turned me on to EWOM which just turned me on in general. When I heard GC3 was in the works, I was a happy camper. Well done on this project, time to go party at Brad's and Derek is buying the beer!

I read Gilmoy's last post whereupon my brain's primary circuit breaker tripped, my head tilted to the left, and spittle fell to the floor. In the nanosecond prior to the overload, I was certain I understood everything about the universe. Alas, all the gained knowledge exited my mind and body via drool and when I woke up, I was as dumb as before.

There are lots of great ideas in this thread. Perhaps a good choice is the already-mentioned idea about making fighters be part of the carrier system so that tiny hulled ships are either eliminated or are considered bigger than fighters. In other words, introduce fighter and bomber classes as carrier bays while eliminating tiny-hulled units. Fighters and bombers could then be built in squadrons and then visually represented as such in the battle viewer and strategic map. I'm picturin

I think this was a great write-up and appreciate the OP's input. I have no idea what to think about it because most of the time I have no idea what I was thinking.

I know a conspiracy when I see one. This is clearly false code purposely planted by Brad to deceive. Sometimes I hate it when I'm right. I also like candy, especially Reese's Pieces.
