If you paid full price for the original game (which was not very good) then Crusade is $19.95. But if you never bought the original game then it AND Crusade are $19.95. This is no way to treat your customers. That sound you're hearing? It's the camel's back breaking. I think I'm done with Stardock. It's not like there aren't a dozen other space 4X's to play.

Does it make Galciv 3 the game it should be or does it just trade one set of annoying features for another?
I've been waiting on reviews and forum posts before putting another twenty bucks into this game. If the AI is majorly cheating on Colony spam from the first turn..... I just saved some money. I hate colony spam. Makes it feel like the game is playing you instead of you playing the game. I'll be curious to see if this gets addressed.
I'm playing a new game, 6 turns in I've found six systems, five of them with zero habitable planets and one with a 'radioactive' planet. Hard to colonize in this game apparently. If I ever find a planet I can build on I'll try the constructor trick, thanks.
I'm 17 turns in and the Altarians have nine ships and four colonies. How is that even remotely possible? Also... all I can build are colony ships, scouts and constructors. Nothing that can defend itself. What's the trick to that? If it's research how can the Altarians be so ahead on research after only 17 turns? All comments welcome.
Wonderful thread, not so hot title! Very exciting news on 1.4!
In most 4x games I've found it's best to follow a balanced research plan - not get too far ahead in any one area. I'm having trouble figuring out a good research strategy here - any suggestions? For example I'd really like to build bigger ships, but not sure where that is. Is that under warfare or tech? Any other suggestions welcome.
There are so few habitable planets here... so few. To get three planets like this, yeah, it derails the game, especially on a small map. I don't mind ships being slowed down, research boost, whatever wacky stuff happens. But three mega planets in one home system? On a small map where all the planets are colonized? No, that's crazy. Good to know the quick game uses your previous settings. Oh well, this was a
So is this 'Another Faction just won the Irish Sweepstakes and you're screwed' a 'Galactic Event' or a 'Mega Event'? And apparently you can't turn them off in Quick Start games.
I just started a new thread on this. The planets just showed up but NOT IN MY TERRITORY, all THREE SUPER PLANETS are in the Yor home system. So after eight hours, bang, that's it, they win. WTF?
I get notification of an event - there's a bunch of new super planets. I look for them and GUESS WHAT? One faction HAS THREE OF THEM RIGHT IN HIS HOME SYSTEM. There are none anywhere else that I've found. I quit the Galactic Council, or whatever it's called, colonize the planet. That lasts about two turns. So.... I'm two hundred turns or so into my first game and the entire game is blown by a RANDOM EVENT? &
I'm an experienced 4x'r and pick these games up pretty quick. But I'm lost here. In CiV or EL you build a unit (7 or so turns) you pop a goody hut and get gold, or culture, or weapons, etc. In CG3 it's 'You need a survey module'. So you build some factories, then a shipyard, then modify a freighter, then remove 32 units of weight so you can add a survey module to it then you have to spend 40 turns building it.
What? A 'prototype' only needs a small hull but when you research it you need a medium hull? That should be the other way around. I just started the tutorial and I'm amazed I have three ships and the AI has about ten.
Really, Stardock? REALLY? Very disappointing.
Tried that before posting. Does this work for some people but not others?
Campaigns are great, thank you for including one! Also - will the 'Large UI' option actually work in the release version of the game?
I really don't see any difference. I'm hoping this is just an oversight and it will be fixed. The best 'large UI' implementation I've ever seen is in 'Endless Legend'. It makes EVERYTHING really readable. Something like that in GALCIVIII would be a dream come true.
