One of the considerations I had when creating a new tech for each and every specialization was whether or not the tech that unlocks the specializations (and allows advancement along the tech tree) should actually DO anything. Unlike GC II, the devs attempted to get rid of the idea of "dead techs" that simply unlocked another set of techs without doing anything else. I felt I should stay true to this philosophy of game design, as I realize that spending X amount of turns to research som

Generalized Tech Trees v.1.8.1 This mod completely does away with the specialization system of GC III and makes it so that players can, eventually, research ALL technologies in their tech tree. Due to the fact that things will start to go a little wonky if techs have more than one prerequisite, this mod comes in two flavors (see following posts and/or the attached README for full details). One version of the mod (Generalized Tech Trees) creates a new
Are you running the game with a modified StarSystemDefs.xml? If so, you need to update that to include the new Snathi Homeworld system that is part of the latest update. Just copypasting the Snathi System into your mod (if you are doing that) should make the problem go away. :)
Just wondering if there is going to be a stream today or not.
Don't take this as official, but according to their Twitch page, a broadcast is scheduled for today at their normal time. I was curious as well, so I checked over there. ;)
This looks way too fun. How many missions in the campaign?
Just the one (it's technically a scenario not a campaign), but it's fun. Those Arnoran starbases have nice surprises for those destroy them. ;)

OK, here is the updated link to what I am now calling the Moar Stars mod. :) https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0By8Y969dyvLHYU1lbzlLSXFhcDg Since this looks like I might have to update it every time a new faction with a new homeworld is added to the game, I think I will go ahead and make this a "proper" mod. All I really have to do is add a README and a version
IIRC, you're using a modified version of StarSystemDefs.xml in this game. Just a heads up that you'll have to add the Snathi homeworld system to it that is part of the 1.3 update. If you haven't already that is. Just copying over the Snathi homeworld system and leaving everything else untouched seems to work. Caused me a bit of consternation trying to figure out what exactly was causing my CTDs on my home mods for a bit there.:D
Yeah, it's StarSystemDefs.xml in the base game. Specifically the lack of the Snathi homeworld star system. Annoying. Uploading a fixed version in a bit. :)
If anyone is still using the mod I created here it looks like it is causing a CTD on map generation when using the Snathi DLC race as a faction in the game. It was working perfectly yesterday, and it seems to still work today when only non-Snathi DLC races are chosen. But something in the Snathi DLC is causing this to CTD when it is used. Their home system is my best guess. I'll take a look at this in a bit and see just exactly what is going on and if there is an
One of my gripes is the ability to "rush buy" various things in a single turn (true of other games as well). Similarly, being able to swing an entire galactic economy into full reverse by fiddling with some sliders feels too gamey. I feel like high-level decisions about which direction to take the economy should require some kind of commitment; either time to build, lag time to change directions, or some kind of penulty for g

That is, even the lowest tier terraformer can be used to improve the same tile as the most advanced terraformer? Because if yes, then this is exactly the mod I'm looking for. The terraforming mechanics in GalCiv 3 always annoyed me due to the constant fear of wasting terraformers. Also, I think that now I will fin
To sound a contrasting note, I LIKE growing my starbases as fast as I can (well, actually as fast as I can whilst pursuing other things). And trying to grow starbases faster is ultimately the source of micro, whether it be via spam, sliders, or some other mechanism. If I am basically told, "LOLNOPE. You can't do a thing to make individual starbases grow faster except maybe researching a tech or three", I and others won't be particularly happy. ;) Now i

I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can have up to date info on the Mega Events that are in the game (both base and DLC). I did something similar for Steam Achievements and it seemed to go over well. As time goes by, I will periodically keep this updated. I'll break this in to two sections: Base and Mega Events DLC. If anything else Mega Event-y comes from a different avenue, I'll note that as well. :) Base Game (as of 1.3

Just found out something interesting. The Yor don't get the first level terraforming improvement, Planetary Soil Upgrade.
