Ship equipment is treated as cosmetic parts by the game, it just defined differently by xml and has an effect applied again by xml. All parts are listed in CosmeticComponentArtDefs.xml (even lasers, hyperdrive, ect). I was just trying to point you at a possible solution. Also they are not under but under instead. (Which you should know already if you did a little investigating).
I thought it was quite a chore too. Kinda still do, but, the more you do the faster you get :) As to ship style, that is easy to get around. Boot a game pick a race and resave the designs as templates and they will have that races "base".
I know you can group ship parts(Ctrl+Left click each part, then select group parts) in the designer, then save the grouped parts as a new ship part, maybe the way to go atm.

Yes it changed on 13th Gauntlet. Its My unrealeased mod so im telling myself I guess :P , and the starbase is by John Grammaticus (Federation Starbase 365 off the workshop). Everything else works just fine int he new starbase window, its just that Sponser Settings button. I'll do a play through now to see if the AI cause a CTD with other Custom Starbases included in the Mod, took a time out to watch London has Fallen.

Hello, My understanding for this (from reading the guide and posts here) is, If I wish to "replace" a whole file I need to keep the file name exact to that of the stock xml files, for example:- FactionDefs.xml. If I make a FactionDefs.xml and place it in a Mod it will replace the original factions, which it does. Your first instance of:- NoRandom Should be :- DeadZone As far as I can tell(not done much modding yet) you need all 4 lane types in the StarSystemDefs.xml or it will cause the game to hang, even if there are no planets in the lanes.
Great work with this mod naselus! Really is fun playing with this mod. It adds a bit more of a challenge for sure :) I have only started two games with it so far, first to turn 450ish and second to about 120, on my 3rd try atm. Both restarts due game setting tweaks on my part, increase AI difficulty, adjust galaxy settings a bit.
