Oh god, I hope GalCiv never gets MP. This kind of game is meant to be single player against great AI. Not played against some pimple faced 14 year old that will exploit everything he can to win, and then quits the game when it isn't going well. No thank you. Single player all the way. I want to play a TBS game on my own terms and my own time limit. In order to make MP, the SP will suffer. That would be the worst mistake stardock could make, to comprom

Can anyone explain trade goods to me? This isn't discussed in detail in the manual at all. I know that they have to be built like improvements on a planet, but what do they do for me after I get one? Also, how do I know the path to take that will end in me getting a trade good? For instance, if I start a game as the Terrans, how do I know what research to follow to get to a trade good? Also, how many are there? Can all races get all of them?</

I haven't played the campaigns and I won't be anytime soon. :) I'm all about the sandbox game.
Quoting charon2112, reply 4 That's true, although these things are relative, so all we can do is compare it to other existing games. If GalCiv2 is the best of the bunch, then it's the best. If the type of AI that you want in a strategy game doesn't exist (as you said), then you can't fault
Quoting charon2112, reply 2 Hmm. That's interesting. I've found this game to have some of the better AI that I've come across, especially compared to the Civ games. I mostly agree with you, but better doesn't mean good, and it does have some gaping holes in it. Look at these boards to see loads of complaints about AI logic (or lack of logic), and even more posts about how to exploit AI coding weaknesses for

But the race declared war on me, not the other way around, and when I opened the trade screens of my allies and clicked on "attack", the race I was at war with wasn't even on the list.
If they weren't on that list, then your ally must have had some treaty with them. Or were already at war. Those, I believe, are the only reasons to not see a race on the 'attack' list.

Hello all, I hope someone can help with this. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I didn't see a tech support forum. I recently upgraded my CPU from an Athlon XP 1600 to an Athlon XP 2600+, now I get weird straight lines jetting out at all angles from my ships and starbases. Has anyone ever seen this before? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, no good. Thank you...
