The base bonus for the Social Matrix building from the Altarian's technology tree is to add to research and production. Neighbor bonus works for research and production buildings, i.e. both types of buildings can be used to increase the level of the Social Matrix if build directly beside it, and likewise are able profit from it, in turn. Last night I designed a fast colonizer with a "prototype hyper drive" (it needs 1 promethium) building this ship subtracts 1 promethium from my stack of 1 for the duration of the build process. But why am I unable to put any build order using promethium (same or different ship) later in the same shipyard's queue? Somewhere around turn 160 +/-10 last night I decided to research that previously completely-ignored weapons technology - no wonder that late in the game I was told I'd need only a single turn to do so for the first step.... at the same time one of my 4 survey ships came across one of these "you get 25% of your current research" events... oh well, not that I really needed this...:-) BUT: next turn I was at only 25% done - should have been 100% ?! So is there a problem
