In the headline section "Best games for any platform", guess what game pops as #1 on the PC.....over Oblivion no less....and while I havnt ever played oblivion, its the 400 pound gorrilla of the PC gaming world right now. :CONGRAT:
The idea behind eliminating the 'number', while it may seem defendable at first glance, but in the end it is pretty much a bone headed move.....and I didnt even realize CGW was owned by Sony So now instead of telling me what a game is like to play, a reviewer is going to spend endless hours contemplating how to target his review if they want me to know how they really felt. There is just TOO MUCH WIGGLE ROOM between "OK, GOOD and VERY
While I too did like Moo2, it had one game ending flaw that was never overcome, you could not play the game on anything bigger than a medium map or the endgame became the ultimate in tedious battle after tedious battle. One game I waiting 30 minutes for the AI to finish all its moves....that one of what 30 or 50 turns battles can (and in the endgame do) take. Rose colored glasses my friend, Moo2 was good, but it failed to surpass Moo1 in t

As an expansion pack I would love to see Asignable personas to planets (govenors), ships (captains) and fleets (admirals). It adds a whole new feeling of atachment to things when you start putting a human(oid) face on things. The real issue Im sure is that while its not that hard to code adding a 'slot' for a character, its gota be a real son of a B to get the AI to effectively incorperate all the subtle nuaces that go with it.
I think what those figures prove is that games are not pirated any less if copy protection exists. What that means is that copy protection which stops pirated game copying as long as possible is sadly very effective at preventing lost sales. The only effect copy protection has ever had on game sales i
You cannot associate a 4/5 stars with an 80% The rankings just dont stack up % for % A 4/5 is aprox equal to 85-88% in most cases. After all we see lots of 3/5 star games, but how many 50-60% ratings do you see? Typically 3/5 star games get 70-79% ratings. 3½/5 fall into the 80-85% range, and so on. I dont make the system, I just observe it <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Gasp.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi
"....games like Master of Orion, Imperium Galactica, and Stars! attest. Galactic Civilization -- Galciv to its fans -- is the de facto heir to the legacy of these classics, and now a sequel has joined its stable." "....more polish, more gameplay options, and more scenarios." "....with possibly more gameplay than the entire Xbox 360 launch line-up combined." "....Ultimately, Galciv II is a thoroughly welcome development of an establ
While a good score is nice, just what in the world is the reviewer talking about when he says he didnt rate the graphics, and if you must have great graphics you'll miss out on this great game...ummm what? Sure we arnt talking about the end all be all of graphics....but compared to every other strategy game out there its a 9 out of 10 or better IMHO. The only place I think the graphics are less than great looking are a few of the cutscenes
Do you consider it is fair to ask the same price for digital download as for retail? After all you do not get goodies with digital download, and you do not have to pay neither for manufacturing nor for distribution, nor for the shelf place. It isnt an issue of 'FAIR' to you, its an issue of the reality of retail. You cannot (esp if your not o
Ive been a member of Stardock for many years and (since it inception) Total gaming.net and I have gotten everything digitally for YEARS. Occasionally a big new release may take an hour or so for the hundreds of megs, but ususally I get great thru-put and even when its at its worst its still reasonable.
I figured it was a nefarius bozo...ahh the joys of even small developers needing to be securety experts.
Yea its been 2 days now, really sucks cause Im addicted
Astral master server 198.63.211.205 been down for the count for most of the day. Anyone know if there is a DOS attack or other internet jammup
I can see the tagline now.... MOO3, because Ascendancy just didnt suck enough.
This rocks...finally something new to spend my tokens on Topware doesnt exactly have 100% smash hits, but they have several very solid titles, and many less expensive but fun budget type games.
I admit it.... I cant take it anymore...I admit it.... I drove to 4 stores on release day to find a copy....I tried to accept it for almost an entire week, and came to the inevitable conclusion that I had just wasted a week of my life, 5 gallons of gas, $53, and all of my fond memories of MOO and MOO2.... Got the Prima Str
I beleive that GC2 will allow you to assign the AI govenors to handle the nitty gritty if you want. AND AS A FURTHER NOTE: The reason as*-end-dency got poor reviews is because it had NO AI, and ulta crappy gameplay mechanics that were obviously made to try and compensate for the AI being MIA. When I reviewed the game way back when I noticed that there seemed to be something very unusual about the way the game reacted to the way I played....it didnt. I did an ex
Whatever. You'll be rethinking Firefox when IE 7 comes along. You talking about hte same IE7 that doesnt keep with the standards for compatability set forth for all browsers? That IE7? I just want this glitch fixed, I dont need Internet Explorering new ways to catch spyware/adware and viruses. <br
When using the latest Firefox and Windowblinds, I get this wierd jitter/shake on some pages. Sometimes REFRESHING the screen will temporarilly fix it but not always. My homepage wich is just a JPEG file with mapped hotsspots even shakes. Its annoying that all of the sudden I cant use Windowblinds cause I sure as heck aint giving up my Firefox HE
I am hopeful that this new arangment gives TGN some much needed content, and the ability to attract some a list titles. Much of what was here for 2003-04 was dated and rates pretty poorly against the competition. In the past this wasnt an issue because you got everything for one low price. Now that they are going to actually charge for each title, the expetation are going to be MUCH higher from subscribers. The great part is that
Such a simple thing, but without any way to customize controls its useless to me. It defaults to using my CH Pro peddals brake axis to move the player (so I'd have to manually hold the pedal 1/2 way down to keep the player centered). I cant beleive a company (in this case I beleive its Alitius) can make a game in 2004 with no option to customize inputs. It screams amature.<img src="http://images.stardockce
Right on the holliday weekend and the new build wont let me access the game.....what the crap is going on. Ive tried reinstalling and my serial # is fine
You want a "living wage"....learn to do something that qualifies to PAY a living wage. No one OWES anyone a living wage...just because you work...doesnt mean you get to earn X dollars. Who the hell believes that someone who isnt worth your arbitrary $8+/hour in a free market is going to fare any better if this control is put in place...ya know what you get....ya get a living wage...and a few dozzen million more people with NO WAGE because an
