Do you mean I have to "catch it at the right time" in order to recall somebody? Is there a notification for this?
BIF
Yep, I see it now and was able to recall a worker. What is "cooldown period"?
I used to stack tons of factories on my colonies to promote fast construction on tiles, but now that seems counterproductive. Now I build a space elevator, deep core mine, and spaceport; the latter if I've built or placed a shipyard. And that's it. Seems that I have to use citizens to really get work done. It also seems counterproductive to specialize any particular colony toward research or income. Again, it seems that I have to <span style="text-decoration:
If a citizen is at a planet, how do I bring them back to HQ for a promotion? Can't seem to find the magic button...
Okay, thank you all for the conversation. As I said, I'll give it a chance before I say I hate it. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
No.
And why not? Trying to have a conversation here and one-word answers are not at all helpful. [e digicons]8|[/e]
Duranthium for this ship, Elerium for that ship, Thulium for the other one. And the really powerful ship needs Antimatter and administrators. I feel like I have to devote all my new Citizens to Admin training so that I can keep building constructors for mining starbases. It's still early so I'll give it a fair chance, and I really LOVE not having to create constructors for starbase upgrades. But in the effort to simplify one aspect to gameplay, it has become exhaus
Make sure you don't have any tools open, such as the magnifier. Or a web browser tuned to...say ANY media/news website. Those'll suck down any spare cycles you have. Of course, I run Folding at Home client while gaming, and my CPU and GPUs are all maxed out. And GC3 doesn't hiccup for me. Usually in late game on huge maps is when I shut folding off.
Quoting BIF, reply 9 I agree with the OP. In order to colonize a planet, it kind of requires that you get close enough to see it and touch it. No sensible colony ship would blindly enter a planet only based on long range scans or charts made up decades ago
I agree with the OP. In order to colonize a planet, it kind of requires that you get close enough to see it and touch it. No sensible colony ship would blindly enter a planet only based on long range scans or charts made up decades ago when a scout ship last flew past its solar system. Colony projects are just too expensive to build and launch and they have too many lives on the line for us to throw caution to the wind. Right? At bare minimum, don't we have Hub
I'm not fond of the robot either.
I think it just means that the secrets of the technology were stolen, giving the thief the +1 trade route. You still posses the knowledge, so you don't lose your +1.
On the main screen, the "technology" status bar (upper left) is nice, and I can float my cursor over it, but...why not just show me the number of turns remaining for the tech currently under study? It's inconvenient to move my cursor all around to get statuses, especially on larger screens. Please just make it work like the status bars showing each colony's current construction project; for example: "Xeno Experimentation (7 turns)"
Nicely put! Brakepads would be useful on a capital ship. [e digicons]>_>[/e]
I'm not getting what makes a "galactic citizen". Who decides that Rochelle Schneider of Troy, Michigan I mean North America, has risen to such a high level of being? And if she's so magical, why does she need more training? I will say, I like the headgear. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
Okay, thanks. I was just having a little fun there, but it still seems odd...I mean, we were building factories in the 1700's or as early as the 4th century, depending on what you call a "factory". The idea came to us long before we thought we could actually GO somewhere else.
Yep, I just got it on Steam. Checking it out now...
Hello. Even under pre-Crusade, I always used bigger maps with more sparsely-spaced celestial bodies, and I also remove half of the races and all of the pirates. Space is supposed to be BIG and mostly EMPTY. It SHOULD take longer to get anywhere, especially in the early game when I haven't yet built advanced drive systems. Plus, playing a space game on a crowded map just feels wrong. Space isn't supposed to be crowded like Beijing, Hong Kong, or New York
...build a factory? Or a research lab? It's a wonder we escaped the Drengin the first time. Or gave the galaxy the hyperdrive, seeing as how our homeworld doesn't even have an old shipyard in orbit. Are we sure we even know how to put on pants in the morning? [e digicons]B)[/e]
I know the founders got to pick a lot of names. Some of them are really, um...nonsense. I think the practice of letting founders name a system after themselves or their significant other, pet, or unintelligible mumbling was, um, less than ideal. Nevertheless, I want the following capabilities, and maybe they already exist. 1. When a dumb system name appears in an existing game, I would like to quickly rename the star and all of its planets.
Hey, Galciv 2 is still a good game! Play that while you save up for a new laptop. Except when you're working extra overtime or your second job so that you can afford your new laptop sooner, that is. [e digicons]:erk:[/e]
I agree. Static paintings of worlds is so ... "Civilization", made worse by being reused for many colonies way too often! I really hope that this is one area that is wide open for mods by artists willing to animate their submissions. For example, to show the water city with actual movements in the falls. To show the suspended city with actual trams or trains moving along the elevated causeways.
I follow you that "some" space of each tile is set aside for residences. After all, people wouldn't stand for it having to raise their families in the factories, research labs, or hospitals. If we have "continent-sized" factories, though, that's sort of what it looks like. By not having residences somehow accounted for, acknowledged, or hinted at, that's what we make it look like. Excuse me, it's my bedtime now so I'll just lay my head down he
Autosave saves to the cloud, but my explicit game saves don't go there. So I lose on average 4 minutes of gameplay whenever I switch from desktop to laptop or vice-versa. Is save-to-steam available for explicit saves?
I see now. Thank you all for the help! Edit: But now that I think about it, why not have options for housing?
