4. There's not enough uncertainty in battles. There's rarely an upset or unforeseen loss in the battles except for those rated uncertain. A little more randomness in battles would help liven combat up.
Well, that's not my experience. About 10% of my battles in GC3 are rated "Victory Likely" or even "Victory Certain", and I lose said battle! That's not a complaint, by the way.
Yeah. Nah. Get rid of the Ship Designer/3D Maps/Battle Viewer/Anything that lends itself to War (Xterminate) and really focus on improving the Xploit aspect of 4X. I jest, in part, because obviously most GalCiv Fans lurve the Xterminate aspect of 4X and Stardock would lose ther jerbs if they did all of that first sentence. But they still could make more of AI cunning and deviousness and make a game that used more

So if they really wanted to do it, Stardock could take this game where no man, woman, child, or Snathi has gone before in a GalCiv game. The Z-Axis. We're in space, but up until now, there has been no up/down. This is a huge immersion gap, if you ask me. Of course, this could be done in any number of ways. With 3 or 5 layers to start. Older versions of Civilization used layers and it worked well in the days before we all got Hex'd. Or

Banned for removing all joy from life by disallowing triggering. I hope my ban triggers somebody today, because triggering is good and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and (maybe) more able to handle life's little challenges. And it's fun, too! [e digicons]}:)[/e]

To me, when playing against the computer, I use Ludicrous. Anything smaller just doesn't allow me to suspend my disbelief.s Star Trek's "warp speed" was such an easy way to get around for a television show, but it didn't address the actual size of just our own galaxy, which is about 1 quintillion km, or about 100,000 light years across. Getting ANYWHERE with Star Trek speeds would take multiple lifetimes, not a few hours or a few days. I am ready for a new wa

The bigger the hull, the more flexibility you have, period. I have outfitted them as carriers, beam-intensive platforms, stacked tons of engines, sensors or survey modules, and support modules. Outfitted with massive sensor capacity and even just a missile rack or two, they scan serve well as a deep space reconnaissance craft that can pretty much defend itself against any unexpected pirate nests. They can also accompany colony craft into the dark and unknown frontier, offe

I disagree with any requirement for 2 admins. Even at 1 admin, military starbases are overpriced for anything BUT "Godlike".
I believe my own fleets do the same thing when I target an enemy ship/fleet as it's about to head into my FOW.
When following an enemy, my fleet shouldn't be able to magically follow somebody who heads deep enough into the fog of war (3 or more tiles), and THEN makes a sharp turn. When moving my fleet manually, I can sometimes guess where the enemy is headed, but it's most likely I'll get it right if the map position allows m

Banned for inconsistency. Discriminatory attitude toward a fictional genre known as "Pop", yet recognizing a similarly fictional genre called "Melodic Metal".
Jagged Knife is an event from GC2, where colonies from Good aligned civs would break off and form their own civ. There were also events for Neutral and Evil civs. Sadly because of GC2 limitations they were minor civs so they were easy to conquer.
Okay, thanks. I vaguely remember The Jagged Knife now.
I see BIF's frustration - "why do the Peacekeepers kill my ass and not the AI's ass as well/instead of mine because they started it/don't want peace, which I've offered!?" seems a fair question. Thank you, but no; that's NOT a consolation. I need to remove them or else dozens of hours will go to waste in this game instance. And I need to prevent them from ever appearing again. I can shut off pirates, but not Monsters or Peacekeepers. The Peacekeepers are not keeping any peace; they are at War with me. I can't defend against both them and the Drengins, and the only way possible to stop it (getting a peace treaty) is not possible because the Drengin don't

23 Replies 99,812 Views

Yep, I just got this. It's ruining my current game. Drengin declared War on me, WILL NOT accept peace under any circumstance, and now peacekeepers show up and kill my battleships and carriers! How the hell can I ever hope to survive when a supposedly "godlike" entity decides I'm in the wrong and proceeds to exterminate me while the enemy who declared War on me won't enter into a peace treaty in good faith? <span style="background

To see the layout of planet tiles, I should be able to do that with powerful enough sensors or at a close enough range. Except for planets that are enshrouded by weather or shielding, I should never have to put a spy on the ground. I shouldn't have to send a colony ship either (for planets not yet occupied by any civilization), but that's a whole 'nother subject. A spy could spend the next 30 years just learning about the geography; more if the planet's development
