All I can say is that - economy system is overly simplified, as some1 said, we used to have six sliders and now we have ONLY THREE (prod. wheel) - I do not mind single queue that much, but I severely miss taxes and approval system - separate space-based starports would be nice solution (to get 2nd queue) - while I loved moving sliders, I feel very reserved to the production wheel...and I think that sliders were also more understandable for beginners <
Well it is still three sliders, now you just have three sliders in three different directions.
How about tax slider? Do we suppose to enter some kind of stellar communism era in the near future? (joking) :)

BTW Tax slider is GONE AS WELL?? Stardock, Stardock...really courageous changes, but how will that fare with the immersion? Dumping two "realistic" features like taxes and approval... I don´t think that is a good move, but shall see in Alpha, how it plays and feels.

Still hoping that APPROVAL will make it back. Even more after Brad´s pdf :)
Btw, I find the first screenshot is looking all empty withouth BC beside the numbers
Definitely. It might look more "accessible" for fat teenagers eating their hamburgers while waiting for CoD servers to get back on, but hardcore strategy gamer needs to KNOW and SEE he produces credits, tons, people etc. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] ;) <

Hence, approval ratigs have too much future potential to be used up as a soft population growth counter.
Frogboy, yeah, I hope approval makes it back! I really think that dumping it totally is a big m

But removing it completely and pretending that in the future everybody is happy, content and there is no dissent would be not worthy Stardock grand strategy :-) BTW I did like some randomness in the approval in Galciv II. I think it well corresponded with the reality of social system, which can

Well, I checked the Vault and was not able to find any signs of approval in the latest (pre-alpha) screenshots... Only empire wide approval? Is that it then?
Glad to hear the approval system is not gone.
Well my friend, I am afraid that they said it IS gone. Which I would consider a major drawback, unless they substitute it with something even better. Even city management in FE (much simplier) had approval in form of Unrest. The Galciv system was more sophisticated and I liked it a lot. I hope they have not taken some kind of shortcut like in FE,
The planet economy is more sophisticated, we got rid of the ambiguous morale system and replaced it with adjacency bonuses.
What? NO MORALE/APPROVAL?!? You mean the inner weakness of the big empires is gone and in Galciv future every inhabitant is content? I will reserve my judgment for the final version, but this makes me rather sad...was looking to revolt outbreaks,

With this approach, nearly everything is human-exploitable, I am afraid. Still its a matter of choice: you want more challenging game? Turn tech trading/brokering off. Or do not use it. Or use it only with non-military technologies. The choice is up to every player, but why to deny it entirely? Diplomacy building/bonuses would be still very useful. You can get peace easier. You can make other civs wage war on each other easier. Etc. Tech trading is an important

Firm and strong YES for keeping tech trading and brokering in the game! Hell, NO greyish and shallow "may I trade my 15 in Magic for your 15 in Warfare?" like in Elemental. And NO to alliances put too late in the tech tree (= essentially crippled). And of course, ltes keep an option to turn it off as well. You dont like tech trading and brokering? Turn it off. Problem solved.

Yeah, Norseman, I feel your pain. I deeply believe that Stardock will keep the GalCiv to be grand strategy game with tactical battles on top of it, NOT devaluating it! No shortcuts for "less advanced players" or to make the game more "accessible". Research, economy, colony management, diplomacy, politics, warfare...all in great and deep mix [e digicons]}:)[/e]

Yeah, I hope the espionage will get significant updates to be really meaningful. Birth of the Federation had really nice espionage system as well...good intel was a strategic factor there! You could steal technologies, ships, sabotage projects, ignite rebelions...and so on.

Definitely YES for tactical combat. This was (along with shallow ground combat) one of the main missing features in GalcivII. I think SD has obtained large know-how from FE and LH games and tactical combat will be quite fun and challenging :) And of course, YES for the option to turn tactical combat off and rely on reliably autocalc.

Words are futile here... KING IS BACK! Heh, I remember, how I laughed at the fools paying 90 bucks to Uber Entertainment for Planetary Annihilation. And now I will be paying 100 bucks to Stardock :D Life is always surprising ;)
