So in addition to GOG's free games giveaways and summer sales, they've put out a rallying cry to their customers. They want their customers to help them get more exposure on different social media sites. The problem is, GOG's customers are also their biggest liability GOG was founded on an ideal. A noble ideal at that. And there's nothing wrong with that. But the problem I see is that now they've effectively painted themselves into a corner, and the only wa
Of course they don't piece together the latest version from a variety of zips. Users only need to get 1 zip with the latest version of the game. You can save on bandwidth by having a universal patch, users install on top of their v1.0 downloadable, this raises the zip count to 2. (with newer universal patches replacing older ones) but it does take a little more effort on the developer's part in creating t
So Valve gets 0 from direct sales? Is that true for just you guys, or across the board?
It's across the board. You can release a Steamwoks game and if none of your customers buy it on steam (Humble/Amazon/GMG/GG/Gamestop/etc) Steam doesn't see a dime. They only take a cut when a customer purchases directly. Thus Steamworks is free. But the Steam STORE like all stores takes a cut. I realize
Now that E3 is out of the way and we more or less know what is 2014 and what is 'some time in the next millenium' GalCiv3 Beyond Earth Dungeon of the Endless Invisible Inc (from the game previously known as Incognita) Wasteland 2 Xenonauts (coming out Monday!!! Get it before the price jumps to $25!!!) Dragon Age Inquisition Evolve Borderlands the Pre-Sequel FarCry 4
I suspect the game is not currenly optimized that well so a larger galaxy will likely cause significant performance issues. ALso given that the economic features are not in the game a larger empire is actually going to be harder to fund given the fact that you can't take advantage of that economically and in production.
That was caused by lack of memory. It was thought it would be 64-bit but one of the third party libraries they relied on had no 64-bit version. A 64-bit version of Civ V would have been crazy fast in that department (they would have still had long turn times though as I endlessly needle them about).
That's intersting. Though I wonder with the new Linux Civ5 could they make that version 64-bit?
I think the problem is mostly that 'dated graphics' generally means that the game looks 'weird'. Also with the release of many DX11 games this problem has become increasingly exacerbated. Every single DX11 only game has elicited cries of "this looks like garbage why does it need DX11" or "I can run BF4 at 100FPS why can't I run Tropico 4" or other such ignorant nonsense. IT's more or less that unless 'stuff is blowign up constantly' the game is 'not

It's a mistake That's juts a typical thumbs.db file that's generated for all windows folders so they UI can generate thumbnails more quikcly Extracting the thumbnail, its just a planet view that we already have. I do't see any new features in there. In fact I'm almost postitive it's just a thumbnail of the Planet Screen Beta 1b.jpg file.

BREAKING NEWS GalCiv3 the ground breaking 4X strategy game is due for a major update. Feedback from players has indicated a need for more gaming options and thus 0.30.0.0 will include new features never seen before in the franchise including * Accurate Drengin Toilet Maintenance Worker simulation algorithms!!!11!! * New "Easy" button allowing players to win in Turn 1 * Tech tree has been streamlin
Personally I always thought the alpha time window was a bit too short. I also think it makes a bit more sense, given that the Steam hub is STILL being invaded by every troll with a soap box decrying Early Access and the price. I'm sure tehy'd love nothign more than to see the beta drop and say "see they're lying to you the game is totally incomplete, thieves, scam artists, valve needs to pull this game!" Timelines are good an all. But in the end you have to do what
@frogboy http://offworldtrading.com/ I'm going to guess that the only possible game designer that could make a game so addictive that it would have to be 'banned from work hours' even in a prototype form, is Soren Johnson. TAKE ALL MY GOD DAMN MONEY
Here's my advice to people If you're asking about it, you likely DO NOT want to be part of the alpha. Being in an alpha/beta requires a GIGANTIC commitment. You need to accept that games will be broken. That things will change dramatically at a moments notice. Save games will be rendered useless. Entire features may not be implemented. AI is likely non-existent. Features may be only partially implmented. It may be poorly optimized. Features may appear, then change betw
Steam won't allow you to sell a game solely on your own site- they'd make zero money off of it. This is why the doing it on your site only idea won't work.
This is false You can currently join the "Invisible Inc" alpha via Klei's website. It's currently the only way to purchase the game. The alpha is then playable only via steam. http://www.invisibleincgame.
Here's what I find somewhat frustrating about the pepole who don't like Early Access 1) You are totally and absolutely ok to not want to be part of Early Access. Thats totally reasonable. Wait till release. Wait until its cheaper. Wait until reviews. That's a 100% legitimate thing to do if you want. 2) But don't then jump on to EVERY SINGLE DISCUSSION HUB and preach on your soapbox that Early Access is evil and that devs who do it should be thrown into the sun.
The thing is price is the ONLY warning people will notice You can throw gigantic banners on a store page. They won't read them You can put a gigantic warning in ALL CAPS on teh store page. They won't notice it. You can put a giant warning when the game loads. They won't look at it. You can put a blinking neon orange message box before you play a game. They won't read it. But put a $50 price tag and people will notice
I get a weird "Debug Assertion Failed" error Expression: vector iterator not incrementable But ignoring the error twice seems to work. Just odd. Its on an Asus ultrabook running an HD4400 though so god knows.
I suspect that the soonest this patch will be out is this Thursday. But that is if all goes well from now until then... They might push it to next week which qualifies as soon. But I wouldn't suspect that it would not be more than 2.5 weeks from now.
Well this week they've been updating the depots online. So definitely a sign that 'something' is up 'soon'. Take that for what
I keep restarting Steam thinking the beta will be there...... In the mean time I'm refreshign SteamDB trying to find any indication of the patch.
It seems like the title is missing a word. Dungeon of the Endless What?
The "Endless" is part of Amplitude Studio's world building universe for thier games. The "Endless" are their precursor race that ruled teh universe but then 'mysterioulsy died out'.
Yeah that game is pretty damn solid even for an alpha.
Odd that laptop has an HD4000 which should be at least 'capable' of playing the game. I have an HD4400 on my Asus ultrabook and it runs fine. Are you sure you've downloaded the latest video drivers from HP for your laptop?
I kinda thought setting up an expectation of a dev stream every week wasn't a great idea. It takes a lot of time and coordination to do each stream and that's time maybe better spent elsewhere. Maybe every other week is ok? I'm not saying stop it all together, but just more resource allocation wise, and also having to provide new ocntent every week may setup bad expectations. Every other week or even like once a month (like Prison Architect does) for a web stream is ok. We
I played the alpha at PAX East. It looks pretty good even in alpha. Combat is tactical but it's interesting in that you combat on the actual strategic map itself. Though I couldn't figure out the game determines 'which' starting tiles you basically begin combat on. It was still kinda simplistic in its implemenation. not sure if they'll advance that more. I felt it addressed one of the issues with Endless Space in that that world feels more 'alive and vibrant
