If I may ask: the GalCiv3 Dev team has gained quite some feedback in this and other threads like e.g. the wishlist thread. What of this do you intend to put into use in the 1.3 and further updates down the road? Are there some things that are already in the programming stage? Also, I would assume that some of these suggestions can be put into practice with relatively little programming effort and can tremendously increase the quality of life for players.

There is also a Romulan, Klingon, and Kilrathi shipstyle set that I know of, on Steam. You have to search for the races "\w shipstyle", and you will find a few, though you will need to manually install them in the mod folder right now. BTW, the Federation faction/shipstyle mod currently is not working, I hope TurielD is working on it when he has time.
In GC3 version 1.2 I'm getting the following error: I cannot load the Federation tech tree in my savegame hence. Please fix it, the Romulan Star Empire is counting on you.
- There should be an "next turn" option even if there are still idle ships. If I send them on guard, they we'll vanish in oblivion, but I just don't want to move them "this turn" (maybe because the front fleet needs to clear out planetary defenses first before I continue moving the troop transports, or whatever). Allow us to finish a round when we think we're done, instead of spacebar-ing through a lot of ships that we'll move the next turn again. This takes up a lot of my tur
*Bump* Any news to this? With steam workshop and a ton of different races and ships, custom colors would be very needed to distinguish all that factions.
I'm using the base game. I've created some own custom factions and downloaded custom factions and ship designs from the workshop. However, I only have one game at the moment where I use these downloaded factions. I honestly have stopped playing, waiting for Patch 1.2. I want 1-click mod support via Steam, and haven't bothered with learning how install mods in the game. I've done that for Sims 3 and some other games, and oftentimes this takes up a lot of time, so I
[quote who="DST1348" reply="64" id="3575641"] My suggestions: Traded technologies should not lock down specialisations Rename specialisation technology names so that you can more easily recognise the specialisation , e.g. Kinetic Weapons Improvement II: Manufacturing Costs Add visual Feedback on the Diplo screen (e.g. an icon next to the planet, or a circle at the base point)
+1 There should be an option to toggle surrenders on and off, and also allow you to accept/decline surrenders to your empire. In RL, there would be negotiations about such a point. Same goes for the "offer peace" message where one can only say yes or now during AIs turn, and not negotiate about the details.
Just a few things that come to my mind. I assume in the code you have some "evaluate value of" sort of thing. As others said, the AI should "evaluate: put ships in a fleet" higher, and also "evaluate: built higher movement speed ships" higher. In this regard, it may be really helpful if a function is put in as in GC2, where one gets a template and then "auto-applies" weapons and technologies onto it, like "focus beam, focus kinetic" etc. as it was in GC2. This will for
My homeworld is a production world right now. 1 or 2 Farms, 1 Entertainment, rest manufacturing. Later I build a trade capital there, because I built my freighters at my main shipyard, which happens to be my homeworld. I have zero research at the start. I'm playing on medium-sized maps, and first grab what I can grab. This may be different if you play on larger mapsizes. Then, at some point, I built up my research planets, 100% manufacturing first to get those research labs rolling. I'
1. Steam Workshop support The game is made as a sandbox, with customization options. Skyrim is one of the games that has shown what large potential a game can have if the average user just needs make one single click to add a mod. I think GalCiv3 can skyrocket in popularity (and for that sake, sales) if the Steam Workshop support works great. 2. Cust
Here is a link to the pictures. https://forums.galciv3.com/465645/page/1/#3551605 I made some MoO 2 races already, but haven't really dived into making a lot custom-looking ships for them.
As I just learned, the legendary "Master of Orion" series, which I personally consider to be a forerunner of Gal Civ 2 and 3, will get a sequel: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-09-wargaming-announces-master-of-orion-reboot The studio/publisher behind this will be wargaming.net, famous for its "World of Tanks" series.
This may also help the AI to test out their real fleet strength before attacking. Right now they think they have superior military power when in fact... they have not. But they only find that out once my ships fly past their wrecks. It may help the AI to adapt their strategy in the long run.
I indeed DO lie to the AI in my games. For example, have a pleasant conversation, grabbing the techs that I want from the AI, and then in the same turn declaring war, because he is my neighbor and next on my traget list. However, I think these "lying" tactics should only be implemented at higher difficulty settings, and would frustrate more casual players. At some point, a sort of espionage system should perhaps be implemented. Diplomatic options should increase as awareness of the ot
At some point, I also would like to have the option to allow or disallow surrenders. Because the Krynn didn't surrender to me, but to the Drengin. As I really wanted to get rid of the tons of useless starbases the Krynn had built in my own territory, I had to declare war to the Drengin next. It can have a tactical advantage to have surrenders (no "cleanup time"), but it can also have a disadvantage.
I consider the AI of GalCiv2 to be very good, even today. I played on subnormal to normal, which sufficed for me. In GalCiv 3, I find the normal difficulty games I currently have to be not as challenging as they were in GC2, but maybe I just have learned over the years. I would love to have more difficulty settings and variations to differentiate. Things that can be improved upon: If for example the AI declares war, it should be commited to that cause. "You can start a
So, to sum up how to change ship scale: 1. Select the ship that you want to import onto another size class. 2. Group all the parts together and save as a new "custom" part. 3. Start a new hull, and then import that one new "custom" part onto your new size hull. Congrats, you just have changed ship size class. Some things to remember are that all grouped parts should be attached to each other in the original design. Its best to only group ba
Very good suggestions. The "no other starbases within x hexes" rule was introduced to avoid "starbase spamming", i.e. one Starbase gives you 10% production bonus, but if you plaster all the area around your planet with starbases, you get 200-500% bonus. This would be a tactic advanced players would tend to use, and to avoid it, the "one starbase" rule applies.
Hi, I wanted to ask when approximately custom ship and race colors will be coming. For me personally, this will be a huge step to further customize my game. AFAIK, the Game devs said something about "sometime after release". I can understand if there are important bugs you have to fix first before going over to such a feature, I just wanted to ask if there is an approximate ETA for this. Good luck JTS80
Another EDIT: I hope the ships are now displayed properly. To quote Mister Chekov:"Guess who's coming to dinner." Drengin D4 Cruiser I used 10 parts for this, surely others can do better. Another color scheme may let it l
+1 I sometimes wonder what means what.
- "In times of peace, prepare for war." I like to create some troop transports and "park" citizens on them, even if I don't plan to have any wars soon. In this way, the population can regenerate and I don't run out of population when I need a lot of troop transports. - Of course, always have some "sensor drones", i.e. freighters with nothing but engines (to flee from enemies) and sensors. They can be behind your fleet lines and scout ahead where the enemy forces are. Turns of

+1, see the discussion during beta. Shift "declare war" to the other "trade" options, start with them, and add an "Are you really sure?" message before actually declaring war.
