Playing for a tech victory, Ascension Gate had a 'Rush' option, and I was flush with cash, so I attempted to buy it. Next turn, it was out of my queue, but the target tile was still empty, and I could no longer select it anywhere to build, like the game assumed I had already built it? Did not receive the tech victory though, had to go another route, as this essentially wiped that option out.

I guess I'm having trouble understanding what role population plays in the economy now, other than a drain on resources (hey now!).
I think the advice in this thread is hitting the nail on the head on why I don't find myself wanting to play anymore. You "have to" rush constructors using ideology, build a ton of planetary star bases, stack sensors (which still feels like cheese to me, sorry), etc. You have all these wonderful races, different ideologies, and potential for role-playing and re-playability, but to compete there is a pretty linear path.
...and as much as I loved MOO II, creative was the single most broken part of the game. If you played with that trait, you won.
Oh boy, marketing speak invades my sanctuary :(
1 - Give me espionage, for sure. I thought the way religion was handled in Civ 4 was great, too. Makes money and alliances, just like real life. I don't mind binary choices as much as the others, but there better be a lot of them. [e digicons][/e] I'm not necessarily a combat guy, I'm an empire building guy, and how civilizations interact in the games is important. Look at it this way, if we turned off 'planetary invasion', woul
I'd like to second the request for the rejected names, that might be amusing... [e digicons][/e] Also, please tell me someone submitted Ringo!
I want to second the ideas of " anomalies that produce negative effects" and "asteroid belts incurring damage". I think it makes the map interesting in itself, and not just a race to claim everything. Perhaps other effects with background space objects - blackholes limiting movement, nebula interfering with sensors, that sort of thing.
The scrolling triggered by mousing to the edge of the screen does not appear to be working, even with the delay set to '0' in options. Scrolling via arrow keys appears to be working fine. Also, 'idle ship' button prior to turn end appears to be triggering only once. If I hit it and center on an idle ship, once that ship has exhausted it's actions, I get the 'turn' button rather than any other idle warnings....
Good stuff. Mainly just posting to see my shiny new badge!
