Hey, is the trade window 'add the correct amount of money' feature broken for anybody else? I'm having it frequently come up with offers that are too low, forcing me to manually fiddle with the amount until they agree. Would also be nice if mousing over trade items gave an indication of how much it would help the deal rather than forcing me to manually add, then remove it from the table :)

Fair points... I am definitely still learning how to use the black market effectively. I still feel like there's something odd about [D] debt not starting to cause cashflow consequences (besides power income), but if folks agree that it's less strategically limiting (in a fun way) like that, I'm still new enough to the game that I'll take your word for it. Thanks for your perspective!
I'm starting to get the sense that debt *really* doesn't have enough bite right now. The only real consequence of a debt spiral is the loss of the black market and the decreased share price, neither of which seem to matter too much in the end-game when you're buying out rivals with fat stacks of offworld revenue. What do folks think of having offworld rockets be like power generators and pleasure domes in that their revenue applies to debt before paying cash, at least
There's a book (and now a major motion picture) called The Martian. An astronaut gets stranded on Mars, and has to farm potatoes to avoid starvation.
I saw this today too. My roommate was hosting, I'd be happy to try and get the log and replay from him if the devs want some more instances.
I do! People get motivated to analyze things FAST after they lose to obnoxious roommates getting saved from their $500k+ power bill due to offworld cash infusions. Not that I speak from experience or anything.
I'd be tempted to replace the hacker array with some sort of derivatives market. You can cause *all* kinds of price chaos with perfectly legitimate financial instruments... say each one lets you have +2 open contracts, where a contract consists of borrowing" 200 resource from the colony (while only having the price effect of purchasing 100). Now you have a debt of 200 of a block of resource, which stays on your books as a liability and you pay interest on those resources at
Awesome! Is there any way to check your carrier fighter status now?
At the risk of bandwagoning, I too hold this popular opinion! I already stubbed my toe on the disappearing move points in my first alpha game.
Strategic zoom-to-cursor master race. You scrubs need to L2P.
That works too, but I feel a little dumb moving the mouse over and wiggling the scroll wheel back and forth when I want to move a couple of screens over.
*goes back and checks* You know, I totally forgot screen edge panning was in GC2... wonder if I had it turned off and forgot it was a feature. That's good to hear, at any rate, the lack of panning was my major interface complaint. Maybe I should go play some GC2 while I wait for three to get a few more features... get myself into the right frame of mind.
Having come off of a recent non-galactic civ kick, I have to say I miss a couple of their interface features. Being able to pan by moving the mouse past the edge of the screen rather than dragging would be hugely appreciated, as would the ability to move a unit even after you've pressed 'pass' to put them idle for the turn. I'm hoping that the movement point loss is just a temporary implementation of the command, otherwise that's going to burn people. &
This doesn't seem too difficult, the pirates could just behave as they do now with the added rule that they call off an attack if the bounty drops off; current limits still apply.
I think I'm going to weigh in on the keep-space-clean side of things... not so much because I'm thinking of the children but because I generally associate swearing with immaturity. I like my flagship officers to maintain the decorum their station warrants, they can swear tastefully in private when they're NOT on the comm.
PS. That said, I'd never deliberately give a teacher a hard time. I was definitely one of those kids that HATED the disruptive kids.
Mispronounce a word horribly. We had this one kid in my philosophy class who insisted on spelling Nieztche "neatz-ski". The poor prof just twitched uncontrollably every time he did that. He also came in with a bag lunch and started eating ham and ketchup sandwiches in the middle of lecture, something sure to annoy anyone who catches a whiff. One of those guys who has NO clue how obnoxious he is.
Don't think anybody but you can get a diplo victory. My guess is that you got cultured into oblivion. That can happen even if you solidly control all your planets if another player gets a dying civilization event and has influence over a lot of unoccupied areas in the map. Caught me off guard when that happened to me the first time, esp since it was an ally that did it to me.
While I see where you graph theorists are coming from, I'm not sure it ever makes sense for you to lose trade income because you built an extra trade port. Maybe the algorithm calculating the length of your trade route should evaluate distance by the number of phase jumps apart worlds are, regardless of whether or not those phase jumps are included in the trade route. That way adding trade ports is always advantageous, it is just more advantageous to add routes at the edges of you
Ok, I can't resist taking a stab at this. I'm guessing there's some bug where if you have a lot of fleets or something you can get them to trade places. If you can reliably get the fleet with the terror star to take the place of another fleet that's already in position, it could effectively telaport the terror star without using wormholes.
I tried a 46" TV with sins once. It was totally epic until I realized I couldn't read any of the text from where I was sitting. Made budgeting a little difficult when I couldn't see my credit total [e digicons]:S[/e] .
On a side note, I have a one week break from classes this week, so I should have a lot of free time. Just let me know when you guys wanted to have the game.
I'm pretty much an offline only player who's been looking for a good opportunity to get into playing some multiplayer. I've played a grand total of 1 online game, and that was back in v1.02ish... so I'm probably going to be caught VERY off guard by anything goofy humans try. Don't draw any conclusions regarding my experience from the fact that I've had the game since it came out, I've only played the game 6 or 7 times against normal AIs. I just haven't had the time to really
It might be in a place you think you've explored; I seem to remember that ascension starbases don't show up through the fog the way resource starbases do, even though the unclaimed crystals are visible through the fog of war. Fair warning, I'm a little fuzzy on that since I turned ascension off after one game.
Well, i was refering in my post to "slow tech rate", so developing all the guns tree is something that rarely happens in my games before the end, the techs cost to much (as it should be with the slow tech rate), so the option of wait while you develop guns don't exists. For the other poster: 1 - Their ship never got out of their world before they had produced a second 2 - I
I wound up fighting the dread lords in a medium galaxy when I still had 2 firepower ships and very slow technology. I was able to contain them to their planet for some time while I researched up the tech tree, but they finally stole Drengia from me (I conquered the Drengin shortly before they arrived). By having some extra transports around, I was able to take it right back. This went back and forth a few times, which quickly gave me the black hole guns tech I needed to make
