Just started my first game

Having come off of a recent non-galactic civ kick, I have to say I miss a couple of their interface features.  Being able to pan by moving the mouse past the edge of the screen rather than dragging would be hugely appreciated, as would the ability to move a unit even after you've pressed 'pass' to put them idle for the turn.  I'm hoping that the movement point loss is just a temporary implementation of the command, otherwise that's going to burn people.

All in all though, I'm very excited at how things are turning out.  The UI looks pretty, and seems to be doing a good job of presenting information.  I'll definitely stop in periodically as this comes together... right now there isn't a huge amount to test outside of confirming the game seeming stable for me, and that I haven't seen any obvious graphical glitches.

Both of these things were in Galactic Civilizations 2, and will almost certainly be in this game. Don't worry :3

In GalCiv 2 skip turn resulted in loss of movement points. But I think SD will fix it this time for GalCiv 3.

*goes back and checks*

You know, I totally forgot screen edge panning was in GC2... wonder if I had it turned off and forgot it was a feature.  That's good to hear, at any rate, the lack of panning was my major interface complaint.  Maybe I should go play some GC2 while I wait for three to get a few more features... get myself into the right frame of mind.

Personally I never use edge panning, I prefer click and drag.

That works too, but I feel a little dumb moving the mouse over and wiggling the scroll wheel back and forth when I want to move a couple of screens over.

Once you go black, you never go back! Or something like that.

If im moving some distance I either zoom out or use the mini map.

I played some old school games with edge scroll only recently and it felt so awkward and primitive.
