Well I've got to add in my 2 credits to the discussion... I'd love to be able to customize what "mega events were added to the list" (A simple all or custom button triggering a drop down menu would work) I like the idea of different feelings between government types. I like the idea of "Auto Upgrade System"... Imagine a "budget for upgrades" you know how governments actually work...So the auto upgrade feature only using a portion of the budget...keeping t

@Markon yeah making a "lock button for planetary settings would be great!" I also agree it was rare for me to be building social and military at the same time (excepting start of game).
Well I'd like to see hybrid modules, like for my "trade/influence starbase" a speed boost for all friendly units. I'd love a stargate type module where it required 2 gates to be usable. I'd say that transport should be 1 turn between gate's not instantly (keeping all movement points on the ships), even though it'd be more realistic that way but balance. I'd like for Military star bases to not just boost force but be able to use their force against units
Yeah, to be honest as I grow up, while gameplay is important so is graphics, After all I have an i7 2600, a GTX 660 Ti, over 8 GB of RAM, an SSD OS drive and Raid 1 Game drives (Storage) on my gaming PC. Of course running a 64 bit O/S and Have been since XP 64. I miss the days when a new game meant "buy new computer", yes I understand not everyone likes the new computer for new game concept, and most games will allow people with pathetic machines to play on low even medium. (Looking at you gu
Well to me the ring world makes more sense, while I'd love to see a dyson sphere...it'd be a galactic achievement...giving nearly limitless population, with solar rejuvenator tech...they could safely live there for billions of years. Even then a ring world could give like hundreds of planets worth of populations, manufacturing etc.
Gaunathor- yeah your right Star Gates and the Artemis System Net were from MOO2. I guess I miss remembered my old 4x games :D... They were really nice in MOO2 being able to manufacture ships galaxy wide and have them join each other in 1 turn to form fleets to go from stag
So the OP question: What level of Tinkering should we be allowed on a planet by planet basis... Well I enjoy creating a "standard build queue" however that being said it's mostly because the AI is stupid about what to build and where to build it. I usually had a "starter plan" then a "focus plan"...Starter got the usual basic tech's on a planet...the focus ones had their priorities. I added the mod that gave "research parties" to fix the research when it was co
This would be somewhat interesting...let's say if you were to finish a few trees a new algorithmic branch would open up... Like life sciences, efficiency studies, where you'd need a few levels into then study the Scientific Victory path, however you could continue studying these indefinantly...or at least for a few hundred in game years ;), before you were instantly given the scientific victory. I also enjoy turning off all different victory type
Wow some interesting ideas... I like the OP's idea of tech affecting the trading vessels at least that's what I understood from it... I like the idea of adding in a "special resource module"...perhaps a "Smuggling Module" or "Sumggling ship type" I'd like to see a separate "Civilian" system where between planets within our empire or within empires that we have agreements (trade, alliances, research) seeing civilian ships adding value to my "Starbase Trade tech" research;
Actually the AI could make the right decisions...based on a value number...similar to the system in Gal Civ 2... The higher the value the more desirable...adding in a "type" like if players or you get in a fight with x type weapon...research y type defences ... My only problem from what I gather is that you couldn't research all the tech...I like to play a custom race that allows me to
I liked them both, so I'm fine with the change ;)
I've got to laugh about the " intel whatever graphic card not being bad" when it is compared to a phone sure it's not bad, however when comparing it to a $25-$50 PCI-E card...it's pathetic! The AMD APU's will kill it easy ! Granted i
Like many people when steam came out (I remember around the time CS1.4 or 1.5 came out...) I was vehemently against it...my brother and I used to pool our resources together to buy games...so how much fun would it be to only be able to single play with that one copy...Blizzard had it right back then 1 real game allowed 7-8 spawn copies and the real game disk was required for single play. I noticed some talking about the family sharing while it's nice it clearly stat
Just putting this out there I'd prefer it from GOG...but I also use steam...why because it's one of the few ways we've got available...just like I use Origin for the very select few EA games I play BF3, ME2,ME3
Happy to hear of this...first we get Star Citizen (following in the veins of Wing Commander, Privateer, Freelancer), now my favorite 4X this is a GREAT YEAR! Wonderful to finally see 64 bit (I 've been running 64 bit since Linux, and Windows XP64), Nice to see the adoption of something beyond DX9...I've had a DX11 Capable Video Card for 2 or
Yeah I'm glad it's 64 bit and happy it's DX11.. I hate the limits to modding that 32bit games impose... my skyrim would be rock stable if it were 64bit... atm I've got to watch that 2.8 of 8 GB RAM level hits to high and crash... It's hi
I'v got to agree with Cikomyr " A single constructor should be needed to startup the starbase. Once it's been initiated, we should simply have it build by planetary production, with a penalty linked to the distance between planet and starbase." Granted in my Modded game starbases were actually extremely useful...but the default game not so much... And the managing of constructor fleets were annoying... It'd make more sense for stuff
