Star names are in a text file within the system somewhere, so in reality even non-founders can edit that file and put any star names they want in the game. Not so much of a special perk after all...

People still use Vista? After the horrible reception is received in the world? Even after Windows 7 was released to fix/replace those faulty Vista systems?
Quoting ProfoundGlee, reply 7 allow difficulty level to be increased (but not decreased) midway through a game I really must ask why this restriction should be in place. There is nothing at all wrong with deciding that you'd rather play an easier game at an advanced point in the tech tree, or in deciding that the difficulty you originally set (or most recently set) is too high for you or for your tastes, and as far as
I would be for this, and I would like to also add an option to play multiple sides. So instead of me playing against the AI or me playing against another player, it'd be me playing against me (similar to how chess players practice against themselves), and also run in a simulation mode where the player doesn't play at all, just watches the AIs contend against each other. I know there'll be very little if any support for these options, but they're something I've
Want one good reason not to use steam? Trust. In fact there is no more important reason to hand over money. The problem with the digital age is that young folks don't know just how far media companies specifically, go to bilk consumers. Us older folks know it all too well thanks to what happened to us with music & movies, etc. Thus we take measures to protect our investments be it hundreds of thousands on real estate or a few bucks on v
So just because you were a hipster, everyone that don't like Steam, must be too. Just because you wanted to be cool being contrary to it, anyone who is against Steam must be the same. *epic facepalm* Sectarian.
Yup, that's exactly what I'm saying because there just are no legitimate reasons. Again, you can come up with any reason you want, but in the end, they're all B.S.
Once upon a time, I was adamantly against Steam, basically for 2 reasons. The first one was I was tired of everyone having their own download manager that had to run in order to turn the game. GameSpy, Games for Windows, EA had their own manager, Origin, etc... I got tired of having a separate download manager (which also doubled as a client) for every game I wanted. Secondly, I was opposed to Steam just to be contrary because everyone was drinking the kool-aid and was
As a developer myself, I absolutely love XML. Most, if not all languages include native support for XML and behave exactly as you've describe. Load the XML and wham, data structures and objects containing the data are available to be instantiated. There is no easier structure for programmers, and non-programmers alike to read and modify. Other than that, I can't quite tell if your post is serious or is riddled with sarcasm.
+1... no, +2 for this deia!
I would volunteer, except I despise multiplayer, in any game not just this one. Will these sessions be recorded for viewing later?
I really like the monochromatic display, it makes it appear much more as a "display", thus adding to the immersion factor for me. However, I do think the hex outline around the main display shouldn't be jaggy, it's pretty distracting. And I also think it'd look better if the hexes themselves were a wee bit smaller. As far as being functional, it would depend on what popups would display with a mouse hover.
It's a turn based game, there is no rush to dial in the exact amounts you want. I like the idea of being able to lock in values so as you manipulate the wheel only the values you want changed are indeed changed, but I don't really care if getting the precise values I want is 1:00 v.s. 1:15...
I imagine people move as the situation warrants. In some cases moving 1 hex or grid at a time is the smart move, other times it'd be completely unnecessary. With these types of games, you cannot just say unequivocally people must move 1 grid/hex at a time, or that they mustn't. Nobody can really dictate how a player should move their ships/characters around.
I don't think having completely useless planets is a bad thing. While I'd hate to anger the random gods and end up with a whole bunch of them, but I think they also add a certain something to the universe as well. If you were indeed colonizing space today, you'd certainly come across planets that no matter how technologically advanced you were, that were just utterly useless. Completely dead planets with zero chance of any sort of revitalization. Perhaps pl
If barbarians are included, I would ask that players have the option to toggle them off. One of the things I like about GalCiv is the early feeling of being alone and having a chance to start my civ any way I like before being forced into military conflict. Also, I don't think the mindless aggression of Civ-style barbarians works as well in the GalCiv universe. If there are space pirates I want to be able to negotiate with or hire th
I will have final editorial say on star names. So "SmellyFart453" isn't likely to make the cut.
Honestly, this is a good name for a star with a high sulfur content... heh heh heh
I'm tremendously happy with and approve both these items, although SY100 is by far my favoritest...
As much as I'd love to help out, I don't now, nor ever do MP...
My only plea relating to MP, do not use MP balanace as an excuse to short change the SP aspects of this game. I've seen that happen way to many times, and makes the SP lackluster when MP balance has to be considered for everything.
The only thing is missing for the alpha is attack animations. All other stuff looks and feels supiriour to GalCiv II. (At least those elements which is in alpha version.)
There's a great deal more missing than just that. http://steamcommunity.com/app/226860/discussions/0/558
It'd probably just be better off ignoring these types of posts instead of everyone jumping in and saying the same things over and over again. None of them are gonna understand it, and all their doing it baiting you all. When you see a thread that's obviously one of these children complaining, just ignore it, and when there's no response, they'll just go away. Hopefully.
Initially, I've only had a problem with the install, the font issue, but otherwise everything has seemed to load and display correctly, but I haven't been in it long. While I agree, there will be many immature people posting to the hubs and Steam forums, and while there are a few colorful idiots posting currently, it's not as bad as I expected it to be. I remember the bashing Wasteland 2 took because it was $60 and Early Access, so I really imagined this would be a whole lot worse. Of course, it's still early, I'm sure it will get worse. Much worse.
