We bidded on MOO when it was up for auction. We really wanted to create a true MOO2 sequel with crazy tactical battles. Alas. but GalCiv isn't about tactics. It's what you being with you that matters.
Haha I admire the lengths you will go to to get the community off of your back mate! Having never played MOO, and after all of the winging over here about Gal Civ not being MOO n

EDIT: Just thought about how easy it would be to take advantage of such a system. So it's okay for me to have it but not you guys.
Haha You just thought of having a fleet of bonus'd up flagships by making every ship a subtly different class didn't you! Cheeky sausage! I don't know if it has been posted yet, but everyone should go ahead and check out the complete list of star names in GCII below, if the name you want is on here then pick another and you basically get two! :P https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Names Fate, [e digicons][/e]
Good strategies Fate! I do typically use the old scout ship to enemy planet technique. + fleet scuttle...never tried the moving of the fleet to the far side of an enemy empire...maybe didn't have the supply range for that one...
NO DREAD LORDS FOR NON-CAMPAIGN GAME: I cannot stress this enough, having the Dread Lords randomly appear in the non-campaign version of the game was a poor choice. They're pretty much overpowered and if they appear before you have the technological capabilities to fight them, you're pretty much screwed. Correct as usual Gaunathor.
How could the flagship drain your budget? It doesn't have a maintenance cost (unless you add weapons).
Mine does [e digicons]:D[/e] On Large or bigger maps I rush down sensors and a basic weapons tech (and engines if the flagships too far away from my space and there's time) and upgrade my flag to do damage, war early game before people have planetary invasion and kill off my neighbour
Even if that were to happen, tactical combat would still be by FAR the most in demand feature for half the community and strongly opposed by the other half (the half that has been eager to bash the OP in this thread).
You weren't around for the outspoken minority demanding Multiplayer and Carrier's were you mate? Tactical combat has always been a relatively minor complaint by the outspok
This is a collection of really cool ideas, the flagship does become a drain on your budget after the initial wave of anomalies are exhausted (unless you have medium hulls researched and upgrade it to a main line fighting ship). I would like to see something more done with it!
Only real concern is that the game is stable on launch and Elemental's tragedy is not repeated.
The Dev's are keenly aware of the pitfalls to avoid on their flagship game after Elemental's disaster, but I imagine stability won't be an issue after a thorough Alpha and Beta cycle! What I learnt from being in the GalCivII community from launch is that Stardock is very, v
Remember here that there is a whole 'species' in GalCiv lore that is actually made up of a heap of different species all working together in the form of the Krynn. So we needn't even need to look for real world examples of why this might work as there is one in game already!

I feel that any immigration that happens should be directly tied to your culture and economy, as those are the two stats that tend to drive immigration. It'd be a great way to add more to the cultural victory, if in by doing so you could take population away from your enemies planets and add them too your own. I imagine that races like the Kryn, Altairans and Humans would have distinct advantages in that regard, and crueller races like the Dregin and Yor wouldn't be able to attract as
Some people are drama queens, the dev's have repeatedly said in interviews that this is GalCiv2 2.0 and that it will resemble it strongly, with 33% the same features, 33% improved features and 33% new features. People are reading one poorly worded article and freaking out unnecessarily. Please stop doing so, or read all of the information available before doing so. I gave a strong example above of the proof that Stardock has already provided to founders that t
There's a founders vault picture showing how the tech tree currently functions in GCIII, fear not people, it operates similarly to GCII:TA, each race has it's own tree and by " players have to choose which lines of research they will pursue at the exclusion of others" they just mean that unlike in Civilisation where regardless of what technology you are researching they all meet up at the end, it is like GCII where your research in weapons technology will never ever link up with
Hopefully one day people will do a quick Ctrl+F "carriers" before posting...
It's a testament to how much we all love this franchise that we keep having animated discussions about this, but perhaps if the mods could pin this post with Brads response in it and kill off all other posts like this we could avoid this cycle of community fracturing fun! Negative on the fatalism mate, I've used Fate as my handle since I started gaming (when it's been available) because my friends that I used to play with all had similar handles, Wrath and Irony are two I remember off the top of my head!
Don't give up hope mate!!
