Elite Founder here, thought I'd jump in on the conversation. I haven't paid an extra dollar for DLC or Expansions so I have (apart from Mercenaries) really no idea what was a DLC and what was a free update. Now that I have that out of the way I'd like to say that I have almost 290hours on GC3 now, and at $100 bucks that's a great return on my investment! I have my issues, but I have my loves as well, and every time I boot it up it feels like an issue has
Fate
I zoom in on an unexplored area of space when turn times start to take a while, that get's all ships moving instantly and cut's it down significantly!
I for one enjoy exploits that let me play on the harder difficulties!
Keen, those buttons will finally work!
No, don't give up on the colony race, just rush build a strong core and use your natural shipyard production to build your remaining colony ships, and develop those non core planets when you have spare resources or your core is well on the way to being functional. Being on Gigantic with abundant changes the whole strategy. The AI is getting those early ships from Ideology choices or finding them in anomalies, you need to do the same. Are you s
The Guard option always alerts me when an enemy vessel has moved within sensor range of that unit, what's wrong with your game Mystik? Guard is life! Nice tip about the sensor units being prioritised by the AI though, exploiting the shit out of that!
I find the way to be is to not go tooooo aggressive on the colony rush, purchase two colony ships in t1 and t2, then spend the rest of your money on factories for your first 4 worlds while normally producing colony ships if more planets are available. Those 4 worlds are your core, do everything you can to build them up as (usually) constructor worlds first before flipping 2 of them over to building research labs once they hit half full (otherwise it's painfully slow to build the labs). Me too, me too. Arcean ship designs are the prettiest, most lethal looking stock designs I've ever seen! I played a game just to max out the tech tree to see what sort of monstrosities I can build! Huge hulls are beautiful! They almost remind me of the Turin ship designs in the Mass Effect universe, a lesson in sharp, angular lines that just look dangerous! Still not hearing anything from Island Dog or Frogboy about achievements. Love that idea for an achieve Publius!
This, race-specific achievements at least please! The achievements in the game are mostly pretty vanila, win as x, win on y, build so many/kill so many z and so forth - I'd love to see a bit of the flair that Ironclad put into Sins of a Solar Empire's achievements under Stardocks tutelage - niche pointless things like space ponies and lots of other situation achievements would be great! Please guys, I'd love to have something to aim at along the way to the d
I just noticed something odd about Lord Vega this morning. He is not Lord Vega, he is Lord Verga. I wonder if the Arceans have a new leader or if it is a typo.
Wow how did I miss that! What the crap! Going off of what's written there I'd think it's still Vega aye. Weird! Stardock?
It's fantastic! Long live Lord Vega!
G'day Stardock, long time fan and player here. The mercenaries expansion brought my favourite race back into the game! Yay for the Arceans! I'm quite giddy to start playing as them again but I noticed in the civ flavour text in game that they are now listed as having "A rich history of neutrality". When did this come about? In Dread Lords they were always a proud warrior race that wasn't particularly good or evil, but riding the middle
Excellent! Thanks guys! As one of those obsessive 'game the system' players trying to squeeze the most out of each planet(300hammers per turn min or get out!) you guys are the best! =)
Quality governors! I'm so excited!! Playing with 100 planets is fun right up until you finish a terraforming tech, this makes me happy!
Thanks for the advice guys, I held off updating so I could play over the weekend just in case. I've updated (from 8.1) now and it run's beautifully on my Win 10 machine, NVidia 970 and an i7-4790 for those interested. It's actually picked up quite a bit of pace with DX12, as have most of my games - Win 10 isn't without it's flaws currently but for gaming it's aces! Fate, [e digicons][/e]
Where do we stand on Windows 10 compatibility at the moment? I have the option to upgrade but I want to be able to play over the weekend! Thanks, Fate,
Reviewed and thumbs upped a heap of the positive reviews!
Yeah that's how I clicked in the end, the big number 1 still being present at the front was my first clue! (I haven't been here for a while!) Fate,
I'm very excited about the launch being so soon! Except I'm Australian and keep forgetting to mentally change release date to May 15th every time I read it and just made myself sad that the game doesn't actually come out in an hour [e digicons]8C[/e] Still bloody excited though! Bring on GC3! [e digicons]:D[/e] Fate,
Topic one sounds fantastic. I don't have issue with the single build queue system but the strategic flexibility of an on map starport is very exciting. Topic two seems to be underpowered for neutral, where it should be for good and overpowered for evil in tiny/small and maybe even medium maps, but on larger maps the three balance out well. Except the Coercion 2, that's just crazy powerful, far in excess of what the other two ideologies have. &nb
You can call this version alpha, beta, gamma, zeta, these are just words. You're releasing an early build to the public for 99 bucks to help begin actually testing the game. If some as-yet-unmentioned major new features are still to come after this point, I will be very surprised. That would be an odd decision to let the public see any version of your game so early in the process. To me it's like Apple selling a new iPhone prototype
My game had it in the tech description when I single clicked on the specialisation that increased range across the fleet, in the first generation life support techs Guanthor. A quick browse of the files indeed reveals no description, but in game it is there, so I'm not sure where it lives. ParagonRenegade you are one lucky man, having both of your names in game! If those two stars spawn next to each other in order one day.... that'd be an amazing screenshot! Imastar is great, on that note how about simply 'fusion' or 'H' or 'Hydrogen' or 'Flammable' for other people stuck for names? :D Fate,
