Is there any way I can tell my computer to use the paging file more sparingly?
Yes, get more RAM so the computer doesn't need to use the page file. That's the only way. Otherwise you're game is just going to crash on you because of insufficient memory, as the page file is only used as a last resort. If you have an extra $500/month to play with, you shouldn't have any problems getting more

But when the game is finally completed there will no doubt be mods to make it more like Star Trek. In GalCiv2, there was even a Babylon 5 universe mod. Which is where my avatar came from.
I think for me this would make my games very boring after awhile. I generally tend to be honourable in my games so eventually all the races would treat me as if I could be trusted, and there would be no surprises anymore. Each game would end up playing out like all the ones before it diplomatically. Ditto if you played as a backstabber. All your games would end up with the other races always having the same attitude towards you.

Windows 7 however had both. The issue for some people though is that they may have had the OS installed by the manufacturer and don't have the disks
How's the shipbuilding in the game? Will there be any need to pester Kryo to make another one of his great shipbuilding mods? That was a must have for me in GalCiv2. It was about the only mod I used actually. That and Formis's excellent alien animations.
They will. The devs even consider it a very important feature of the GalCiv franchise and aim at improving it over GalCiv2. I felt the AI had degraded since the previous version, the name of which I forget at the moment.

I realize this a long dead thread, but I was hoping if there were any plans on implementing the idea of an automated patrol route I brought up here long ago. It's something I would very much like to see in the game. I haven't been around for awhile and I was wondering if there was any thoughts towards including this feature since I last posted the request.
Even though I am an Elite Founder - I would be willing to pay for packs of animated aliens that don't necessarily have the rest of the major race treatments. Just unique, cool looking and sometimes bizarre alien animation sets - that fit in the developers aesthetic of the game - which we can use in the game - especially when we are playing on these massive maps. While I don't have a smart phone and so don't play mobile games, I really don't see the idea as being feasible. There are just too many limitations for that type of device. The game would need to be scaled back so much that it wouldn't even resemble the original anymore. So why bother even trying? Not everything needs to be cross-platform. These games, and I include GalCiv 2, were meant to be played on a PC and that is where they should stay. By having them on a PC platform, y

What would be really nice to see would be the ability to set patrol routes. So you could send some ships to your borders and they would follow a path around your empire to detect enemy ships, rather than just sitting passively waiting for something to cross their paths. Alpha Centauri has a feature like that and it comes in very handy. I have yet to come across another 4X game that has this as well.
