Specializations fit in with the lore of the game. Afterall, for some odd reasons, the Drengin never figured out how to make portable hyper drive when they had a form of huge hyper drive (the star gates). It seems to me, some Drengin mad scientist would have eventually figured it out, but they didn't. Also, as was pointed out earlier, the span of the game is a few devades. Yes, eventually, a civ might be able to perfect everything (have stuff be better, faster, AND

+1 for specializations and +1 for the need to balance them so there isn't always a superior choice. Oh, and +1 to let us colonize all planets, so no specializations for that tech.

This does seem like a big deal but mice with middle buttons are not that expensive. People with insufficent computers would spend more upgrading the memory.
LOL. Like a bunch of "dumb effers" as Mr. Zuckerberg put it to his Facebook users are going to sucessfully take on and win suit over Zuckerberg's facebook. The ONLY WAY elitist aholes like our youngest billionaire playboy here end up paupers is thermonuclear war maybe. The hyper rich usually stay hyper rich. Funny how that works.
AI is brutal and efficient, but it should do what it is programmed to do. Approval to the Yor is like trying to teach the theory of relativity to a room full of poop throwing monkeys. The two just don't go together. The Yor ought to be designed to not have to mess around with approval. If some Yor dissaprove of the regime in power the regime in power resets their AI programming.
Aren't there bigger things like murders and rapes to solve and prosecute?
I noticed this in full screen mode.
I am still having this issue. I will try to send in a ticket at some point but it might be a few days.
I believe that ship has sailed and left port.
Your own ships are always visible to you, the same for the AI: his ships are always visible to him.
Indeed, they could simulate cloaking by simply making your own ships appear faded where you could see through them when cloaking is on.
Quoting androshalforc, reply 5 I agree at the very least all the major's should have their own scientist type The Drengin should have a Torian slave scientist, for no self respecting Drengin will become a pencil pusher if he can whip the desired results out o
I haven't had a chance to start playing beta 5 yet. Can you post whether or not you are still getting the dark screen? We could have similar graphics drivers and cards?
People will one day not be playing PC games with their desktop, but on their fat asses on the couch. This leads to a change in gaming with less intricate games(whos going to read tons of RPG "stuff" across the room on their TV'S?
There are plenty of RPG games for consoles. I enjoy reading tons of RPG stuff from my couch. For me, anyway, I like sitting on the couch and relaxing to a RPG vers
What size map are you playing on and how many species? I think the culprit is your memory. The game was kind of slow for me and I have 6 gigs of ram. I haven't had a chance to try beta 5.

Oh, and not saying its right or anything. I am just saying enforcing image copyright in galciv 3 would be about as challenging as enforcing only missionary position sex in the military. Technically, per the uniform code of military justice, other forms of sex are a violation and considered sodomy, but you dont have military enforcers in every bed room confirming the position.
I will eat a pile of doo doo if ONE person, ONE person reports after a gaming session that a company, police, etc. is suing them for copy right infringement for using an image that was obtainable off of a legit website (i.e. not off a pirate website, and you can just right click and save to desktop) in galciv3. Come on, ONE person. If companies and law enforcement are going after this, then they must have excellent supply of money to burn. I
Micro management hell. No thanks.
Did you hear sounds of laser fire, screaming, etc., in the background as the colors change? I was hoping something more MOO2 ish. My ideal would be watching your species use some of your tech against the others, MOO2 style. Oh well.
Agreed. Stardock, lets rejoin the 21st century of 4X gaming and fix this issue. This game already has plenty of micro.
