I won a Masochistic game on a gigantic galaxy with all computers, uncommong habit planets, common planets, star clusters in v1.0X.1 (you can click on my name to see, it was submitted to the metaverse). I am currently playing with the same setting now in Beta 4B, tech trading off, and let me tell you it has gotten a LOT harder. Although the Torians had a horrible start position and were crushed first so at least I have that <img src="http://i

For me, it's the Torians. For some reason I can't stand the Torians. Even in fresh games in which nothing has happened yet, I hate the Torians. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a specific race that they just seem to dislike game after game (my friend at work personally hates the Altarians). Gah, stupid Torians.

Beta 4 the AI does escort tranports in a big way. FYI, I am playing Beta 4B. Still shooting down their transports (I admit to seeing 1 or 2 escorted transports out of the 12 or so they sent, but nothing close to 'in a big way'). Edit: I see Skelton42 had basically the same experience. 90% unescorted, a couple escorted.

Couldn't you just demolish your fleet manager is this exceedingly rare case? Or better yet, never build a fleet manager because it is almost always better to launch your ships, create a fleet, and get first strike?

The AI is only just so smart, so if you really are an expert player than you just need to turn up the difficulty. I was getting bored at the game on Tough, but now that I am playing on the highest difficulty level (suicidal? masocistic? I forget the name) the game is thrilling again. I am barely surviving now; having to use every trick and tactic I can think of just to stay alive, let alone get ahead. So great <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T

Just found frogboy's sticky on SmartException (https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=109712#846692) I'll DL that and run with it tonight (at work now), hopefully that will give you good data.

Doh, sorry CodeCritter. My title is wrong, I am actually using v1.1 BETA 4B as you can clearly see in the first line of my .err logs. I had updated to it last night hoping it would fix my crash, but it did not. I changed my title to reflect my correct version. I apologize again for the confusion.

Hey Flea, thanks for the response. I didn't quite understand what you are telling me to do though. Am I supposed to download another program through Stardock? I already DLed the game and patch through Stardock, do I just need to run the game differently somehow (i.e. not from the desktop icon)?

It happened again! http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash4.err Please help me, I'm addicted to your game and it keeps crashing on a freaking random event (P.S. I never see a random event message in game, that is always just the last message in the log.)

http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash1.err http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash2.err http://www.alexbanin.com/debugcrash3.err I'd send these in, but I don't know the e-mail address. Anyhow, I am playing on a Gigantic galaxy, at the highest difficulty level (suicidal?), 9 opponents (Torians are dead now), Uncommon Habital planets, common planets, uncommon stars, cluster stars, common anomilys, no tech trading, no tech victory, very low tech rate. I crash every 3

I think the Terrans need a hefty research bonus as an initial trait, seeing as how that is supposed to be one of their huge strengths. As xFlukex points out, I also don't understand why humans only have Hyperdrive and everyone else has Ion drives even though humans had the Hyperdrive way before anyone else.

Tech trading with the AI is an exploit and you shouldn't be doing it if you're really that good The AI trades tech's amoungst themselves, so if your not trading tech then your essentially gimping yourself. It has been stated many times it is not an exploit, which is why there is going to be an 'option

This is like the most content rich "patch" I have ever seen in my whole life. And all it does is make things more awesome. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIG

I believe what Frogboy said is that they found it much less tedious to the player if auto-survery simply flew to the nearest anomolies, scouted or not. And since both the AI and the human have access to this same ability, no one is "cheating"

I'm assuming you were playing with more than 1 opponent. In that case, the computer was doing what people call "tech trading," which basically causes all computers to share all their techs (not quite that simple, but it happens). Anyhow, what this means is that a player who does not participate in this trading is going to fall way behind in tech (and better tech allows a better economy and better ships). There is good news though, I just sav
