The only pirate fleet I ever saw was super weak, but it snuck in a blew up one of my economy starbases . Suffice to say I was pissed off and proceed to obliterate them

Well, I upgraded my drivers (video and audio) to the latest available versions just in case. It didn't help. I'm sending in another zip file which contains the .err, .cra, .dmp, and save game.

Farming only increases the max cap right? It doesn't increase growth rate, or does it? Personally I still colony rush, but I only fill the colonly ships with population which will still keep my home planet at 4 billion or more.

Orbitial Fleet Managers are really only useful if you also use Omega Defense Systems (+50% or 100% hp to all ships in orbit, I forget which). Also, maybe slightly useful with Spin Control Center (everything in orbit appears twice as dangerous to the enemy), just because if you launch all your ships your military rating drops (sometimes a lot). In nearly all other cases it is better to launch your ships, form a fleet, and strike first. Edit: I think there is also an improvme

Sentry - Your ship is no longer in your "need to move" queue until any passing ship is spotted Guard - Your ship is no longer in your "need to move" queue until any enemy passing ship is spotted. Note, by passing I mean "it moved." If the opposing ship doesn't move but you can still see it, it doesn't deactivate sentry or guard (useful because sometimes starbases or some such are in range). Sentry and Guard always deactivate when the condition above is met so tha

Hehe, in my gigantic (masocistic) game I had 7 races go mass driver, and 2 go missile. I also went missile. No one went beam. I would say it is pretty random. Armor is going to be very helpful to me in my game, I hate when 3 races get each weapon, then I feel bad research defense techs since they are only 1/3 helpful (instread of 3/4 like in my game )

In one game I played, I had fleets containing 5 huge ships with 500 missle attack each (no defense). Now, these ships killed everything they met in one shot, so against other cap ships they rocked. However, when the enemy would send in a fleet of 12 or so fighters, I would kill 5, and then 7 of them would return fire, and then I would kill 5 more, and then the last 2 would hit me, and then I would win. Now, after running into several fleets of those fi

I've played on several tough or higher level games where sometimes the computer has a high quality planet but builds nothing or next to nothing on it. They usually develop all their core worlds, but for some reason they just seem to ignore planets occassionally. I've never played a game were they just completely did nothing though.

You can run an entire empire from that one planet.... Hehe, notice that depsite there being like 50 free tiles, the AI decided to build a factory on the morale bonus tile. OMG, use a free tile instead, silly computer!

I'm pretty sure you are experiencing the same crash as me (https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=114061#877105) It seems to always happen right around some random event. Good news is CodeCritter said he will look into it. You could probably download and run SmartException and send in the crash data to [email protected] so they can confirm it is the same or different.

Lol AW Trespasser, that's golden. Glad you got them to fix it though (that's like an uber medal, only now one can see it). Maybe you can make that score your avatar picture

I think your score with a political victory will be lower than a conquest victory simply because in conquest you end up with every planet which increases your final military, research, social, and population levels. The only possible way political could be better is if it would take you a very very long time to win through conquest (since your score is divided by the square root of the current turn your on or something crazy like that)

I think is fun to see people have such a good time with the 'flavor' elements of GalCiv2, glad you can edit some of your stuff to get it more to your likely and still play happily Metro.
