1. If you look at the core ships in the designer you'll see that all the ships point their front towards the bottom left corner. When you use the starter block it keeps that orientation by default. So if the front of your ship doesn't match that then you know you've got the orientation wrong. If that happens you don't necessarily have to delete the ship. If you have a central part you should be able to rotate it around to face the correct way, tho

^ It's anyone's guess when or even if they make this kind of change. Originally when the floated the idea of carriers they said we'd be able to select the design, but in execution they opted to make it hidden and automatic. Unsurprisingly it was a very common request in the beta that the player have access to the carrier fighters. The devs I think went with the balance excuse as to why they didn't go with it, which was understandable in the final months of th

The targeting priorities seem to be designed to create the illusion that ships "defend" others. I agree with some of what you put. Capitals should go after other capitals to prevent pure weapon capitals behind super-tanky escorts, which especially against the AI, really makes things unbalanced. One thing I'd add is that Interceptors go for interceptors first. This is more of a visual thing though because I think it could look cool to have your tiny ships clashi

That is weird. It should show up with the hull size templates when you click new design. Check if the file exists. You should be able to find it in Documents/My Games/GalCiv3/Designs. If you can't see any files with the name you gave your ship that means for some reason it didn't save the design. As for the manual, you can find it on the Steam store page if you scroll down. It's on the right and unless they fixed it there are two links to the

How the fighters are chosen is set in the XML, so you have no control over them and the games blueprint system handles what they come equipped with. They get the best tech available. So if you unlock the next beam weapon tech the next time your carriers go into battle their fighters will be using that weapon. It's basically a way to cheat the upgrade system and keep your fleets competitive without a penalty in turns to upgrade or cost of upgrades. Personal

The templates are tied to the hull size they were created on. The devs have said that they would be inclined to giving us the ability to port ships to different hull sizes.

If it is not a cargo or tiny hull you won't get access to the template until you unlock that hull size. As for any ships you saved with equipment on them you won't get them until you have unlocked the tech for the equipment (and hull size) for that ship.

I'd like them to add "detailed" option for a description, so you have the basic one they have now that shows up when you look at a ship and a button to go to "Detailed" or whatever that opens up a new window that allows for a larger write up where you can have paragraphs and easily write and edit what you write unlike now.

If you hover your mouse over the icons you should be getting a tooltip that tells you what the icons stand for. If you are talking about the ones under the "Ship role" heading they are (Left to right) Threat, Fortitude, and Value. All ship equipment (weapons, defences, drives, etc and not cosmetic parts) have at least one of these attributes assigned to them. The figure in the design panel is simply a sum of these attributes of the installed equipment. For example, l

After noticing two of the ship design contest (SDC) ships in the campaign I went looking in the ship folder and could only find 5 of the 8 finalists. Were the other three cut from the game? Of course this is purely self interest giving I had a design as a finalist and it is one of the ships not in the game. Also is there any plans to add the SDC ships to the default blueprint list so they auto-update and appear in the ship list?

It is pretty use to access the designs, or at least it was in the beta. In the XML there is an option that hides the fighter designs from the ship list, you change that to show the designs and they will turn up in the shipyards. This allows you to modify the design in terms of its equipment as long as you keep with the naming schema. I did try switching out for a new ship template as well, but when loading a battle it didn't show the fighters in the list pre-battle and v

Yes that's correct because the fleet you were fighting havd carriers in it. The Drengin in the campaign use a lot of carriers. Hopefully they will add it so when you check the details of a fleet you can see details of individual ships, including what modules are equipped. Or add something to the tooltip that identifies the ship as having a carrier module (maybe as well as type and no. of ships it will spawn in).

I must admit I was expecting more than that. Oh well, better than nothing I suppose. Hopefully in the future if they do more ship part DLC, particularly if it's paid DLC, that they are a bit more substantial than this.

I am looking forward to getting these parts, but I can't say I'm comfortable with the idea that they will never be available to others. I think that it being a 'timed' exclusive would be more community friendly. Hopefully in the future non-early adopters will get the chance to purchase this if they want to.

[quote who="Ed1975" reply="20" id="3548425"] Quoting Werewindlefr, reply 17 I obliged, but with the large number of issues I have with the game this close to release, I did not give a positive review :/. I will, however, change it once ("if") I am satisfied with it. If "release is only the begining", then recommending the
