I read a thought-provoking article this morning from the Deseret News' incomparable John Florez (by far one of their best editorial writers - he's on the money quite often) explaining about the need for ethics reform in the state of Utah. He makes some compelling arguments for ethics reform, and why it seems so distant. To quote from the article itself: Any effort

I agree with you. I have a MySpace account, started way back in the wild and wooly days before it got too popular and I was driven away by gaudy, glittering pages and annoying music. However, I've just recently begun using Facebook and I can already see why it's vastly superior to MySpace - I so enjoy staying in contact with past loves, old friends, and others who I just don't get to see nearly often enough.
study Lula ... before you talk about Islam.
Good luck. I doubt Lula's studied anything besides what her precious church tells her to study in many a year, if at all. She's the definition of closed-minded religious bigot.
neither has criminal associations
McCain was as involved in the Keating scandal (if not more so) than Obama has ties to Mr. Ayers . . . Palin's husband belonged to the Seccesionist party, and seccession is treason . . . I maintain - ALL FOUR OF THEM SHOULD BE THROWN OUT ON THEIR ASSES.
but mccain and palin suck a lot less...
No, they most certainly do not. The suckitude is equally spread across their smiling, empty faces.

Mmmmm, I love the smell of fear mongering in the morning. Let's be honest - NONE of the four people put up by the two major parties should be withing TEN MILES of the Oval Office. They ALL SUCK.

I heard about this from Equality Now a few weeks ago. (Incidentally, if you're not a member of that organization, you oughts to be, my friend.) It makes me sick to my stomach that we live in a world where this is okay.

I thought that I had for sure locked my vote in. I was a true Nader fan. I was ready to go and cast my (useless) vote with pride. Until I saw this campaign poster. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259343879110792994" style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_u9x720CKA0o/SPzxZJIGFyI/AAAAAA

Just for the record, from all the people decrying the left's socialistic tendencies (which, incidentally, like Leauki, I fail to see why 'socialist' has become a bad word): Sarah Palin is the governor of a state that practices collective ownership of oil and other natural resources, and equally distributes the state's cut of the revenues to every citizen. (via TPM) So just think about that as you bandy about 'socialist' as if it's some derisive term.
Colin Powell as Secretary of State was a big Bush mistake.....
The mistake was all Bush's, because he should have listened more to what Powell had to say and not ignored him until he up and left. If we had followed the Powell doctrine, the Afgani war would probably be over. Colin Powell has been one of my heroes since childhood, despite my difference in political opinion from him in many respects - he was a brilliant general and a great strategi

This originally started out as a pantoum , but I took some rather hefty liberties with the form. (But hey, I kept the basic rhyme scheme while trying some diversification with the lines.) At any rate, it's nothing special, but I thought it would be worth posting. But then, I've been wrong before. Anyway. If you read, let me know what you think. Continental Drift Now

Okay, this is hilarious. However, it's not safe for work - so be warned. <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="464" height="388" src="http://www2.funnyordie.com/public/flash/fodplayer
none of Obama's shams seem to interest you.
Frankly, the whole ACORN thing makes me sick to my stomach. I REALLY can't stand either of these candidates, and wish them the worst of luck in their presidential campaigns. Go Ralph!
I expect this sham to be exposed in the coming week.
Well, at the very least, he doesn't pay the taxes he already owes . I expect more to come out as the week goes along.
Joe the plummer
I'm thoroughly convinced that 'Joe the plumber' is a lie, a plant. It's already been proven he's lied once - he said he was a registered voter, and there are no registered voters in his district under his name. I expect this sham to be exposed in the coming week.
