I can beat a full game of AIs on gifted (medium size). Haven't tried the harder ones yet. I'm interested in making the AI smarter instead of just having the difficulty be based on cheating or handicapping the AI. Allowing the AI to ignore FOW is a HUGE advantage. They don't have to guess they can go straight for the good planets and build starbases in the best spots. I know teaching a AI to play a game, especially one this complicated is tough.

My brother and I were playing multiplayer and we accidentally declared war on each other....Now we can't talk to each other in diplomacy....??How long will that last for?
Play more....Figure out how to expand faster...you will go negative. try getting the free colony ship (benevolent ideology reward) and rushing two or more with your 5k starting money.
Can you give the beam analysis as well? It seemed like to me that kinetics were easily the weakest of the three.
I'm not sure what to think about the stacking sensors....It seems very exploitable. And not necessarily intuitive. This seems like something that would benefit from a poll or something to see where people stand.
I can confirm that last night this was working...I had two and got a +20% boost.
Multiplayer is working now. Seilore and I just tested it out.
Just tried multiplayer with Seilore....WORKing MUCH MUCH better.
The recent changes to the shipyard cost make this a more serious issue. I'm not sure why anyone would even build one unless they didn't have one. It seems better to build a constructor and then have it build a shipyard instead...much cheaper. I'd like to know more about this change.
I agree with you kestlstw. There aren't enough ways to interact with the AI / other players. At least with players you have the ability to reason / chat. I also think all the crashes people are getting need to be eliminated.
I'm not sure the AI has been informed of all the changes. Shipyards use to be easy to build, now they are quite costly. I have found though that you can bi pass this by creating a constructor and then building a ship yard...much cheaper. This seems kinda silly that you can do that if the change was indeed meant to make ship yards harder to get / easier to defend early game.
In that case I suggest changing your settings....add more stars / planets / inhabitable planets...and you will get a more desired outcome.
I think they should def. attack / leech of trade routes some how, and possibly even colonize a planet / guard near by planets.
I find that depending on your start you have to adjust what you do. For instance getting the free colony ship or 3 constructors is pretty game changing early on (from ideologies). Also I find that other factions will sell you their colony ships. This is being fixed I believe but it is pretty exploitable. Also you start with 5k....what are you buying / rushing with it? I usually rush 2 colony ships. Which helps colonize things early. Also what size m
Are you guys putting each other on the same team? I have seen this cause issue.
I like the idea of starting home sectors. I think it really adds a little something to the game especially in a campaign or something. However, in multiplayer and custom games it seems like it would be nice to turn off if you wished so that everyone gets a random start completely. Any one else have thoughts on this?
Why would you like this feature? I think if you explain a little more you have a better chance at idea buy in.
Stealth is a great idea. I think however they will probably save it for DLC or an expansion.
I'm not worried about stardock, I'm worried about the player base.
The game has GREAT potential. I'm afraid they are releasing it too soon. I'm playing the lastest opt in and while the game has come a long way since alpha and initial betas it still needs more polish and bug fixing. I also don't particularly like the idea that the in game faction editor doesn't create xml but binary instead. It seems like it should follow the xml pattern as well. Multiplayer works, but there are dsyncs and crashes that mak
Did the last planet happen to be the furthest away? Because I'm thinking when you took it it made your empire go to REALLY far / big.
I tried creating a custom version of race to see if that would work. Because there is no clone function and some things can't be figured out you wouldn't get a perfect mirroring of the race. But you can def. change the colors and everything. The only problem is the logos and things that are pictures or videos.
I played with my brother last night on the lastest opt in. So I can confirm it does work.
I haven't figured out a way to change a player's color. As far as I can tell you can't. So if two or more people in multiplayer pick the same race they will all have the same color which is confusing. I tried to search topics on this but I didn't find a lot of information. Has this already been discussed? Also what if someone wants to play a particular race but doesn't like the color they are set to? What if you are playing with color
what about the fact they they have their colonists on it....doesn't that seem a little weird?
