New beans from Brad. "This time there's somewhat more sophistication with concepts like accuracy, evasion, rate of fire, sub light speed, and fleet formations. All stuff we'll get into as we go forward. But the effect is that players will tend to focus on particular strengths and when at war you'll want to look at what strategies they're employing in their ships and fleets" Many Bothans died to bring us this information.
Great timeline, really ties up some loose ends. One particular thing I wonder though: Humans transmit plans for hyperdrive to the Arceans. Why? It seems so entirely unhuman.
Alien loving liberals got in government.
New race that looks like a green batarian? Iridian corp? where do you get this stuff? Or are you just trolling?
Excuse me.The article is in latest pcgamer magazine in the UK for anyone to see for themselves.I presume the US one might have the same.Any what is trolling about it? Not much new apart from a new race that looks like a green Batarian and a new faction called the Iridium Corp that sounds like a sophisticated Korx. The designer has no experience and is scared about messing up which worries me as it looks like they played it safe because the galaxy screenshot looks just like GC2 in hexes. The mechanics seem the same. Nothing about space combat other than Hexes balance it. Maybe they are going for the CIV5 style with some units have 2 hex range etc

How about Aliens that actually look like Aliens and not a humanoid with a frog head.

Those are not your daddies Yor as they look more like Geth. The art of the Xendar looks great too. The art design looks much more muture in general which is good news.

We enslave and eat animals that are processed in death camps dailly..Drengins did the same to the Torians. The whole good and evil thing is a throwback from the simplistic starswars era and we now live in the game of thrones era.

Sounds promising.I like that single player is not being compromised in both events and aliens stats to make way for bland multiplayer balance.I also like the idea of diplomacy having meaning. I hope the combat is a lot better in both player involvement and the weapons tech has an actual meaning rather than the simple and dull system in GC2.Weapons should be like cool spells with different effects that mater in combat.

Galciv is not close to a perfect 4X strategy game when the military side of the game is more about building space toys than interesting varied weapons systems.Things have to improve and keep moving forward. Civ5 is easily the most played and best Civ game today and the mechanics are very different from Civ2.

In my view GC2 went a bit over the top with their importance and it also added lots of unfun micromanagement.I like to see them still in the game but not so vital to every mechanic.

If you want real depth in weapons system, engines and defences the game needs tactical combat. I think its pretty obvious the game will have it anyway.

Will we be getting turn based or real time tactical combat ? I presume we are getting tactical combat in the series finally.
