I have the multimedia pack installed. I even double checked to make sure the files were there, and they are. I have no music, no click sounds, no nothing. Running in windowed mode at the moment, so not sure if that's part of it.

Windowed mode works. So there must be something with the full screen setting?
I can technically get in game now. Now that I found the appropriate CD Key... It crashes to desktop about where it should be displaying the main menu. Screen blacks out for switching to full screen, cursor changes to the GC2 cursor, then crash.
I don't even make it to the main menu. I have sent my smart exception information in. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (now twice) with no luck.
Please ignore/delete my double post *smacks her forehead*
I'm not sure what went wrong here, but I cannot re-activate my beta? After uninstalling and reinstalling due to other problems, it requested my serial number before I could play. I entered the GC2- style serial number I received in my original e-mail confirmation and it informed me twice that it was an invalid serial number. Once when I straight up ran the program, thus using the activation screen there. Once from SDC using activate product from the right click menu. I am completely a
When you select to upgrade one of the prebuilt ships, you can get a better grade of ship because it doesn't properly calculate space used by the pre-defined components. So long as you do not remove any of these components, it will not recalculate the space usage. As a result, if you just add on a few pieces (i.e. engines), you get a better starship than should be possible with your tech level. Most notoriously this is found with the colony, transport, freighter and constructor ships.
downloading now! can't wait to see it!
As with any game that comes out this time of year, I will wait till I get it from some relative for the holidays. I'm not allowed to buy such things till January... Here's to desperately awaiting xmas... sigh. I've been playing the Civ series since 1, plus Alpha Centauri (I love it still!!), colonization...and generally anything that Sid graces us with. Even managed to pick up his board game version of Civ, signed by Sid I'm a fa
Good catch Kryo... I hadn't gotten this one, but definitely a bug! Makes me wonder if the AI is getting the same things?
You know, I'm pretty sick of this human masquerade too... Let's throw off the shackles of humanity and be our alien selves! Or... well, in my case elven. Anyway, I like your ideas. The only games I've ever seen that implemented racial planetary differences are old and primative (Pax Imperium 1, Spaceward Ho). Both were very simplistic in design, thus able to implement a complex feature like that. They had -no- tech tree, decent graphics for the time, but that was 10-15 years ago, and
All the races have default racial traits (these can be changed of course). Some are better at social construction, some are better at building stronger ships, or whatever. Also, like in GC1, there are political parties that alter your abilities. Behavioural issues occur with the different races as well, but that's more about the AI than you playing an alien. I can't think of anything else, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist...
At the moment, it looks identical to GC1. You set your espionage and destabilization sliders in the galactic affairs window. The more money you pour in, the faster things happen and/or the bigger the things are when they happen.
Heh, I don't know that I'd call a capital ship battle a "dog fight". Perhaps if you have a lot of tiny ships against each other, then maybe. Presently, it's exactly like civilization. Ship A attacks ship B, the offensive value is compared to the defensive value, and dice are rolled to determine the outcome. However, fleets are not in yet. Perhaps when fleets enter the picture, things will change?
Honestly, I'd like to see it where the minor races stay, but if they become more powerful than the weakest major, they become a major race. Similarly, I'd like to see the ability to create alliances out of them as per "The league of non-aligned worlds".
As in GC1, you don't have to switch off of imperial if you don't want to. Your party would be supreme, and thus, so would you. You just don't get the benefits of the other systems.
So far, it looks like the battles are just calculated. More like Civilization than MoO.
I thought there was something fishy about those sliders... Guess I should have just added...
If it's stackable, there's a darn good reason to keep it there
I do like the idea of supplies/blockades, but I think it's too late in the beta process to add such a complex feature. Maybe GC3 will have it?
Ohhh...even better. Include all 9 (or 10 if you want to include some of those recent asteroid finds) in the game, but only select 5 of them based on the availability of habitable planets. Heck, if it's abundant, it might even be worth boosting Mars to PQ 9 or so...
My vote would have to be Venus (PQ 3?), Earth (PQ 10), Mars (PQ 7?), Jupiter (0), Saturn (0)
I think morale is now lowered by the number of people on the planet compared to the number of farms on the planet. If you have more people than your farms can sustain, you suffer morale loss. This is only from experimentation, not from the word of the devs, so don't take it as truth just yet
This is after a complete wipe of my previous install, and subsequent reinstall. I did send the save game with the exception file.
