Hmm, I've not seen that, but I usually play on excessive or immense sized galaxies. I also don't put stars or planets on abundant either so that might have something to do with it.
As I am at war with a race that invaded someone else's capital planet, is it possible to ever make peace under such conditions? I can't seem to be able to talk to that race anymore?
Once at war there is a "cooling off" period that you must go through before either party can communicate again. I forgot exactly how many turns but I'm sure someone else will chime in here.
I'm really hoping that the lads at eXplorminate haven't been given access to Crusade before we have had a chance to look at it... Haven't had time to listen to their podcast as I'm busy working still but that would be like rubbing salt into my wounds!

Regarding #2, it's been reported and erischild discovered that you only need to click on the planet's capitol then you can add a planet project, etc. Easier than exiting and going back in.
Holy crap, Publius of NV, that's a pretty damn good economy! I've never had a problem with mine but have not reached those levels... One thing I like to spend my extra cash on is getting other races to declare war on each other and embargo the heck out of each other, too. Let them do my work for me and then I don't need as many ships. I used to also go nuts with starbases but those days are over... sniff sniff [e digicons]:'([/e]

Just did several battles with using the battle viewer and I haven't seen this. Maybe it's linked to what Larsenex said and how long you've been playing is a factor and/or the amount of memory that you have. I have 32gb but didn't play that long while testing for this. Guess I have to do a marathon session tonight! Purely for scientific reasons, of course... I'm sure my wife will buy that one. LOL
It happens most with high speed ships, and it happens when those ships are on a manually set autopath of multiple turns. I have not seen it for ships on auto explore or auto survey. If the ship is on a multi turn auto path and if it is off screen for an entire turn of that auto path, there is a chance that it will not display the fog-revealed tiles when you do get around to looking at that region of the map. Hmmm, haven't noticed this but I have to admit that I haven't been using the battle viewer much lately. Will do so tonight when I sit down to play a little and see.
Yes, I've been seeing this quite consistently since 2.0 came out. Was bummed to see that it had come back as it appeared "fixed" for me with 1.9. With 2.0 I just have to have ships exploring without being in view for it to occur.
Wow, reading all this new info is making my head spin with all its possibilities and showing me that I'm going to have to re-learn this game all over again. I do like the concepts being shown here a lot, though. Will be interesting to see how they all pan out in practice. Can't wait!
Noone jumped on that screenie that is showing the resource bar on top? It seems there is a "food" resource? I mean there's a small symbol looking like a green apple, what else would that be....
Nice spot! Totally missed that one.

That is one mechanic I would use as an easy way of remembering what my planets do, ...
Just to share what I do to help me remember what my planets are for once I start specializing them is I rename the planet adding either an E, R, or M at the end (I also get rid of the numbers to shorten up the name a bit) so that I know what they do with a glance.

I'm still playing my 2.0 test game on an excessive galaxy and things seem to be going well enough for my tastes. I still have the highest influence of all the civs, though it's not as easy to flip planets as it was before, it still hasn't hampered my ability to kick AI butt and make them jealous of my wonderful civilization. ;)
I just got the Dread Lords event in my latest game. I was already about 200+ turns into it and had a good base setup with plenty of planets. They appeared next to one of my binary planet systems that was all built up but geared for research on both planets. They only had two ships which I killed within 4 turns. Built a transport within 3 more turns and invaded them. End of story. It was the most anti-climatic experience I've had with them and I've had probably close to 15 encounters w
Huh, that's a pretty good trick! I haven't been going the benevolent route in quite some time, tend to be more of a pragmatic kind of guy with a bit of malevolence and benevolence thrown in here and there... Will have to try that out in my next game!
Based on my game play/observations, the AI has no issues going after resources but since 2.0 they seem a little less interested in artifacts and anomalies and I think this is intentional so players won't get too frustrated by having the AI gobble up all the artifacts. They do go for the anomalies but not as often as the resources. I usually play with gifted AI, though my first play through with 2.0 was on normal to see what changes I could notice with the AI so this may have some affect o
