It's just not common sense. We'll see what happens.
Wow, you have a very interesting and unique view of things here. I take it you have no background in the industry? Ever be an "official" beta tester before? Your opinion of what constitutes "common sense" is not universal...
It's under Game Options once you click on New Game. However, that disables all Mega Events. You can't disable individual ones in GalCiv 2, because they are all hardcoded.
Ah yes, makes sense that it would appear when you create a new game... Thanks for reminding me of that!
I just looked to see if there is a toggle and I can't find it! I know mine is happening, and it never really was an issue for me either for the reasons others have stated in their games, but I wanted to see this toggle as I didn't remember it. So, where is it located in the options? Or is this one of those things that you need to edit a file? Thanks.
I don't see where it says in the mini manual that we are going to get some sort of battle animation or that that was excluded.
I never said it was in the mini manual. I saw it in a couple of places but the most obvious and easily found one was this thread by Island Dog announcing the release of the Alpha: <a title="Galactic Civilizations III Alpha Available Now" href="https://forums.galciv3.com/452675/page/1/#
The placement of Planetary features is more or less Random in the Alpha, the entire planetary surface generation system will be getting a overhauled and polished in the not to distant future.
Thanks for the info on this! Looking forward to seeing what you guys do.
Yes, I've had the same on a few planets of mine. Being given the ability to choose where we place the initial colony would be most helpful!
I have to say I'm with EvilMaxWar here. He spelled it out well for how I'm feeling about the sliders being gone. At first I thought it was just the initial knee jerk reaction to something new being done to something I was used to and comfortable with but the more I've dabbled with it the more I feel the limitation that EvilMaxWar has pointed out. I don't think sliders are bad at all. :)
I never fully took advantage of rally points. I will be sure to do that in this game!
I only play with huge galaxies and rally points are a god send! You will come to love them. ;)
Quoting Alstein, reply 1 How is Starports separate from planets not a dual queue? It is still a dual queue but implemented significantly differently than in GalCiv II, I will try to find the exact FrogBoy quote I was thinking about.
True, and we're only talking about a outward visual representation here. I think it boils down more to each individual's taste an
That mini manual post doesn't really tell us anything.
On the contrary. For me, I knew that when I engaged in battle I shouldn't expect to see any battle animations. Therefore I knew my ship or their ship would just disappear. So there was no need for me to create such a thread as this one. Pretty clear from where I'm sitting and at this point (being an alpha I mean) I'm not expecting more than that.
Looks good. Lots of fun ahead for sure. Thanks for giving us a tentative idea of how things will go.
It seems I am the only one who kind of enjoy the ''Eject'' spaceship Yeah It sounds more as though you are taking the trash out rather than deploying a spaceship but for some reason I think it fits with the GalCiv weirdly humorous theme.
Yes, I think the word eject is totally wrong here. You eject CDs, DVDs, Cassettes (yes, I'm showing my age and won't dare mention 8 Track
I'm going to suggest that they abandon the "tooltip" method of displaying the vast majority of information. It's annoying to constantly have to move your mouse all around the UI to get information that should be available at a glance. The Research thermometer progress bar, and the Construction progress bars for each Planet definitely should have a number at the far right of the bar indicating how many turn
It's more of a theoretical right now. I think that'll come from the feedback. Personally, I could imagine 100+ civs in a large enough galaxy.
[e digicons]:omg:[/e] Wow, that will be so cool! I can imagine that pretty darn well. Looking forward to the monthly updates.

Instead of making a new thread I figured I'll just add to an existing one and this was closest to the top and therefore won. :) Couple of things I noticed during my first brief play session. In this pic: The ship circled in red got stuck there and didn't continue to survey. I had to manually move i
Nice! A lot faster than I was expecting for some of this. Hope things go according to schedule!! Thanks for posting this for us.
Okay, here is my system: P8Z68 Deluxe, i7 2700k @4.7GHz, EVGA GTX570HD 314.22s, 16gb DDR3 2130, 1000W PS, Onboard sound, 32" Bravia XBR, Win7Pro64 And running FRAPS as a benchmark I got this while doing all sorts of things from zoom in and out to max extremes, building stuff, engaging in battles, and I even alt tabbed to the desktop and did some stuff and went back in: <tbo
The folks at The Escapist have a preview up of the Galactic Civilizations III alpha. "Only about half the systems have been implemented for the Galactic Civilizations III alpha build, but the "one more turn" mechanic is in full effect ." Read more here. Sweet! Timing is perfect!!! The download should be all done by the time I finish work and get back into the house. That's about 20 min. frm now. :D Looking forward to seeing what you guys have come up with so far. World, it's been nice but it's now time for me to hibernate! [e digicons]B)[/e]
I hope there are no further problems!
Actually, that was no problem at all. Steam will happily accept your key at any time that it is provided to you but if the game is not ready to distribute it won't download until it is. Standard procedure, nothing more.
There are some issues on Steam's side of things, so we're probably looking at around 3pm ET today right now everyone. If it ends up being sooner, someone will post here.
Thanks for the heads up and possible time frame. That works quite well for my current schedule. I'll be done working around 3:30-4pm EST so it should hopefully be downloaded and ready to go when I am. :D
