This thread is a cesspool. As lovely as it is to have people supporting Stardock, it's almost on the verge of fanboyism in here, which in turn gives the site a bad name. Seems a lot of folks in here just want their 2 cents jibe because they have something against Jeff, rather than the software. I don't care for the fact that he publically insulted some of the folks I work with at Stardock Design, but I can look at their work objectively, without thinking I'm some authority on design, an

Using that tweak, I can play Crysis on high, and the card is cooler under load than the hotfix drivers stock setting on idle. They really cocked that one up. I read the 8.7's will be released this month, can't come soon enough.
Zoomba, the new ATI cards have one small issue with their fan not being able to scale with load, which will be resolved in the next driver update. If you want to keep your card cool you'll need to create a CCC profile and change a couple values and manually adjust the fan at a set percentage. My 4870 at default was idling 96-99°C and when I changed the fan to 40% I am now idling in the low 50's°C.Here's some info on how to adjust the fan speed:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=132
I got the HD4850 about 2 weeks ago.....try looking for drivers for it on the ATI site. They rushed the card to market without providing certified drivers. Then they found the drivers that were packaged made the cards run way too hot. So right now you have to use an unsupported "hotfix" driver. I'm being patient because the hotfix driver seem to be fairly stable so far and it is a screamin card.
Ditto here too. Day I got mine I went off on a wander to find some up
Would of expected an animated please wait screen but that's not a negative. It just screams for it.
There is a version with one but it was actually done the day everything was getting ready for release. I was just messing around with it but it came out ok, so I may rerender a better quality animation and it'll be a future update. Didn't really have time to include it for release.
The preview of the windowblinds I got to see looked quite simple with what appeared to be animation at the top of the Start menu. It might have been just a teaser. Pixelpirate has a reputation of proving his one of the top two very best skinners. Though Words on the street are he's making the iconpackager and probably the the windowblinds skin, we are hoping for the very best.
Nope, the Windowblinds has no animations. Not sure where you got this preview from, but it certainly
As per everything else in this country freedom applies only to the rich and powerful. My freedom is to basically like it or lump it. How free is that?
You're free to not use the program. You're free to code your own. Don't really see what your issue is. Personally I don't use any of the bells and whistles in Impulse. I fire it up, go to the updates tab, download the updates, close Impulse, done.
