..nearly 4 years, to be exact. 4 years since I was last here, 4 years since I blogged here. Some things have changed, some have stayed the same. I'm still married. I still have 3 kids. One just finished her freshman year of college, one is in the juvenile detention facility, and one is in high school and struggling to NOT follow in his brother's footsteps. I live in Kansas now. I'm somewhat of a local celebrity because I'm

Wow. Just wow. I go away from JU for a while and when I come back to visit I find that JU has totally changed. Most of the bloggers from my heyday (2004-2007-ish) have gone, and some of those that remain seem to have lost their shine and allure. It seems that the most prolific bloggers are rabid right-wing nutjobs christian conservatives who, if they had their way, would make their faith the state sanctioned one and don't have to
JJ: It is the one call that I still have nightmares over. I see premature babies, 23 weekers, and I cringe because I am reminded of this little boy who never had a chance. Maso: I hope I never have to do it again, but I know now that I did everything I should have/could have done for him.
I was fresh out of school with a brand new registry card sitting proudly in my wallet when I went on this call. It's a difficult thing for me to write about, so please forgive me if this is fractured...and if you have questions, please ask them. This is cheaper than therapy. She said she was 20 weeks pregnant, but she hadn't had any pre-natal care except for a positive pregnancy test. This was baby number 5 for her....and at the age of 22, she was swearing it was going to be her la
John: I was working down in your neck of the woods at the time. Some parts of NOLA are gawd-awful places to work.... Zoo: Yeah, who'd a thunk it, huh? Maso: I'd be very interested in hearing some of those stories sometime...I'm curious as to whether Aussies are as retarded about their healthcare as some Americans!
*Disclaimer: HIPAA prevents me from disclosing names and places. Ergo, this istory s merely a conglomeration of events and calls.....or is it? Names have been changed to protect the innocent and please the HIPAA gods* It's 2300-ish at night and we have been called to a private residence for a female with what we are told is 'altered mental status'. That's a slightly alarming thing for us; it can mean anything from ETOH (alcohol) intoxication to drugs to a stroke to l
Hey, y'all. Long time no see. Well, that's not entirely true; I've been coming here and seeing you, but I don't think that you've seen me. I've been lurking; flitting about in the shadows and watching from afar. The more things change, the more they've stayed the same. Some things are radically different, some not-so-much. I am: Back in Illinois Recovering from a shoulder reconstruction surgery Qualified as a medic. Going
Toothpaste - the paste, not the gel kind - is great for cleaning scuff and finger marks off doors and walls. I've made my own dusting spray: weak tea with a few drops of lavender and eucalyptus oil in it. I spray it around the room in between dustings, and it really helps, plus it smells great. Borax is my favorite cleaning aid, it's good for everything.
I'll be your doula.
Yes, but he had a brain in his head, at least.
So, you've gone from saying the man was a genius to saying that he 'had a brain in his head'. I have a brain in my head, too. And a pretty high IQ. Does that make me a genius? No. Hitler played his cards well, yes. He manipulated and took advantage of the german people and their disillusionment. It doesn't take a genius to do that. Shrewd, perhaps. Genius....nope.
I never said my writing was good. I simply like doing it.
And I can't sing to save my life, but I like doing it. However, I don't get up and sing in public, I do it in the privacy of my own home. See the correlation?
Truth is absolute.
Not when it comes to religion, it's not. It's subjective. My truth is that there is no god and that you're living your life based on a book of fairy tales. You truth is that there is indeed a god and that I'm going to hell. Both of us believe ourselves to be true. Are you sure you're not Lucas Bailey in disguise?
Well, yeah, he was insane, but logically he was a genius, at least towards the start of his career, before he became so egotistical
Nope, he was a nutjob back then too...he just hadn't found an appropriate platform for his lunacy. (and when I say 'nutjob' and 'lunacy' I don't mean clinically and legally insane. He knew what he was doing....he was a megalomaniac, a narcissist and had an ego the size of europe). In order to understand why Hitler and his
Do you have a day job; another way of making a living? Yeah...I wouldn't give that up if I were you. In fact, if I had written this I'd be too ashamed to post it online for the whole world to see.
This is horrible. I'd have been too ashamed to post it. As for 'likes and dislikes', Lucas - there are universal standards when it comes to literature and writing, which is why people like James Joyce and Jack Kerouac are lierary legends, and people who write Harlequin romance 'novels' and crap like this ...well, aren't. This poem, like ALL of your others, has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and, to be honest, reading it made me nauseated. So, we can't insult
KFC, you and I don't get along and I have been very rude to you in the past. For that, I apologize. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak here. I have watched this thread grow and grow over the past few days and weeks, and I simply cannot hold my tongue any more. Timothy Justice, you are an ungrateful, self-absorbed histrionic LIAR. YOU ARE A LIAR. You have bitten the hands that have fed you; people who did not know you from Adam but who fe
Dana: nice to 'see' you too, and I'll be back with some stories, I'm sure. Roy: I'm not swaggering anywhere. I'm staying in the security of the ER and waiting for the patients to come to me. LW: Like I told Roy, I'm staying in the ER and waiting for the patients to come to me. This is just clinical time; we get to practice what we've learned with real people. The hospital is about 2 blocks from the MetroLink station - you can see the ent
ZOO: Yeah, a literal field. The person who made these quotes (yes, it's all one person) is a lovely, lovely human being who is already employed and is good at what they do. Why the hell they feel the need to be involved in EMS is beyond me, but they're here and they want to do it, so....there you have it. LW: We don't fuck around in ESL. We have police escorts at every scene we go to, and if it's not safe, we don't stop. It's not worth us getting shot or s
I said I wasn't coming back, and, for a while, I meant it. Today is the first day I've logged in and commented since the start of March. It would have been my dad's 80th birthday on Wednesday. I still miss him like crazy. I want so much to pick up the phone and tell him how I'm doing.... School is over half way done. I graduate on May 10th, and take the National and State exams on May 22nd, 2 days after mum arrives for her annual holiday
Brad: I don't like the new format. It's really that simple. I don't like the way JU looks or operates. I've adapted to every single change JU has been through since 2/14/04 and have remained a loyal JU-er for over 4 years now, so to be treated with what I felt to be a dismissive 'see ya later, don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out' by a member of Stardock staff was a little...umm...disconcerting. I don't need or appreciate that kind of treatment,
who digs
'Dig' being the operative word. But then, what do I know. I just blog here. Used to, anyway.
Brad once said that all cyber communities go through cycles. I think this is just another one.
I'm not ignoring the rest of you, I just needed to comment on this real quick: JU is cyclical in nature, that much is true. However, that was before this drastic format change. That, plus this latest cycle, is the nail in the coffin for me.
Blogging here just isn't fun for me anymore. The new format seems to have turned a lot of good bloggers right off, and the only people left are computer geeks and hypochristians. I've met some great people here, and I'll be in touch with them via email and IM. I am not, however, going to be posting regularly - if at all - here at JU. It's just not the same, and I don't care for it. Goodbye.
I asked you particulary Dharma what I did to offend YOU? You did not answer me. Why? Is this a hard question?
Here we go again. You never, ever answer any questions, but you want to be explain myself to you, to answer you. I'll do it. Not because I feel like I owe you one, but because I want you to shut up and quit with the 'poor pitiful me; see how I am being persecuted for my faith' bull-poo act. You offend me every time you open your sacntim
I agree with LW. It seems that since the format change, things have just gone downhill around here. I don't like the new format. JU isn't a site I enjoy visiting anymore; it's getting to be a chore.
