Nothing new about invasion, but I heard "feature complete". So i'm very curious whether some of our suggestions were implemented ...

Without going into specifics about your ideas, principally I would like a system where every unit of population belongs to a specific race and retains that identity forever (like it was in MoO2 already). But I fear that's too much of a change for us to see in GalCiv anytime soon ...
You are not notified (at least with default settings; there is a setting for the notifications that you receive, but I never looked into that until now; must do so when I have the chance to play again). You only see that a foreign trade ship has arrived if you lok at the trade screen and see a new trade route.
Ok the reason brad mentioned military academy is he was terran. This is dependent on the faction you are, or maybe they are going to give military academy to everyone. I like the idea of placing capitol. If military academies are able to train militias then why are we having militias. Are you saying that some planets wont even have a chance to defend themselves. If we are going this route their is no rea
I also observed that the different AI factions very seldom wage war among themselves. I agree it would make the game much more interesting if they fight each other to gain more strength.
Not a bad idea :)
The old improvements are tied to the old invasion mechanics. Either they go away or are modified (e. g. Planetary Defense could shoot at invading troops, partially destroying them (lowering their soldering value). Although I would prefer special defense buildings (even orbi
Hm, already I cannot exactly remember what the stream showed ... Anyway, here my thoughts for a basic invasion system (and only that; my thoughts about structures to fend of attacking fleets before invasion starts I wrote elsewhere): - I agree wholeheartedly with the suggestion to allow the player to place his or her capitol! (much requested by a lot of players for a long time now, or is that just my perception?) - There should be a logistics value for legions, meaning
To be honest, I would really like a planetary defense system similiar to that in MoO2: - Several buildings on the ground (planetary missile base, fighter garrison, ground batteries) - Orbital defense (starbase, battle station, star fortress) - Garrison to crank out defensive troops (marine barracks for soldiers, armour barracks for tanks) - Planetary shield Since tiles on planets are limited, defense structures should not use up those (what is even logi
So... when is the next Dev Blog? It has been two weeks now...
I think they switched to weekly Twitch streams only.
Ok as far as turns being off they could also be affected by nebulas.
Good point, didn't think of that.
If the invasion math stays like it is now then approval already affects invasion chances because low approval reduces resistance.
I dont understand how a life bar is better than seeing actual damage hit points.
With a life bar for the ships in the fleet window in the lower left corner you could see at a glance which ships are damaged and which are not without having to hover over every ship of a 14 ship fleet or so. The AI tends to shoot always at the most damaged ship first, so often after a fight I take a badly damaged ship out of the f
I can understand ships not fleeting up if they meet accidentally in the middle of going to a distant target, but not if they are stationary. But I must say I myself didn't see that behaviour very often, so I cannot say for sure whether the stacked ships I saw were stationary or not.
Hm, I just measured my insane map by placing a ship with enough range in the upper left corner of the map and ctrl-hover over the the hex in the upper left and middle right corner. For the upper left corner it says Distance 380 moves, for the middle right corner Distance 381 moves what I don't understand since for a symmetrical hex map both distances must be the same ... ? Anyway, that would mean despite the xml entry of 380 for HexSectorSize the real size must be 381 or 3
Seems to be a very elusive bug. Brad mentioned it even in the last stream and said he would look into it, but since the bug is around a very long time now we'll see if he finds something ;) Principally from an outside view it looks very easy to do, something like that (much simplified): if (ship or fleet movement ends) { if (ship or fleet is on hex with another ship of fleet of the same faction that has already ended its movement) {
Referring the newest stream: - Until now we had resistance and planetary defense. Is that still the case and how are those factored into the invasion equation? - When defending against an invasion in Crusade, does the defender get the possibility to place their legions? - Can defending troops be placed on buildings other than cities to prevent them from being destroyed? - What are the green circles in the example invasion seen on the stream? - Can legio
Life bars are shown on the ships in the selected fleet, again as red. (The red shaded area is the damage)
Can it be you speak of the Battle Viewer?
Basically it still works like this: http://galciv3.gamepedia.com/Ground_invasions
Um there is a life bar, on the actual Ship Icon when its selected, damage shows in red.
If I select a ship in the fleet view in the lower left corner, there isn't shown a life bar ... ?
1a) No (at least not that I know of) 1b) No, other than switching manualy between researched techs every turn 2) There is a "Manage" button at the top of the fleet control box (or whatever the official name of that is ;)) in the lower left corner whenever two or more fleets are in the same hex. 3) You see damage of ships in the fleet control box only by hovering over the ship with the mouse (very annoying, something like a life bar would be much better). 4) No.

I say: wait and see ... As long as everything would be moddable I'm even fine with things I don't like, but that surely isn't the way to go for the average player.
Speaking of resources: it would be nice if the modding system would be open up so that we could introduce our own resources.
