I just got a new computer, so I used only Impulse for installing all stardock stuff. Initial install went fine, Impulse loaded and registered just fine. It actually showed that I had OD ultimate. I had a problem with Windowblinds, though. It installed fine, but I had a lot of trouble loading any skins. I should note this is on a dual core machine, 2gb ram, Vista home prem. I finally got WB to load skins, but it was acting very funny. Then, impulse showed an update for WB. It would upda

We will add the target folder to the Preferences folders dialog. Thanks!
I can't get anything to install via Impulse. It'll download the updates just fine, but when it goes to install them, it just hangs. Doesn't give me any kind of progress. I'll wait 5-10 minutes trying to see if it's doing anything, then I give up and try to exit Impulse and it gives me the "installation in progress, would you like to exist anyways?" message so I click yes to quit and exit. It then says "installation encountered an error." I open SDC to update and it works without a hitc

All, We found an issue with replacing files on reboot this last weekend. So if you have been having problems installing please uninstall and reinstall the latest version from the download link. Here is the download link again for your convenience. http://sd.stardock.com/impulse/impulse_setup.exe Thanks. Kirk
Will this eventually be pushed out over SDC?
This application will replace SDC. However, we would not want to surprise our users by automatically replacing SDC with Impulse. That is one of the reasons we allow these applications to run side-by-side. We don't plan to push an Impulse install through SDC. The initial install will always happen through the installer.
OK ... I've got four screens (yes, four screens ... bfd). My docks on the upper and lower portions of all screens work properly. However, the side docks on all but the primary screen have a strange glitch. It is applicable to all docks, not just those I have made. The glitch is as follows: When I create a side dock and tell OD which of the four screens it is to appear on, all goes well, the dock appears on the appropriate screen and on the correct side of the scr

Ack. Well, summer is coming so maybe getting it cut shorter into a bob would be the way to go. That way it will grow out evenly. The rest of the whole mess will be resolved by time. (Hubby coming home, hair growing out, cold passing.) It seems like I chant "this too shall pass" a lot lately, however that is mostly related to my 2-year-old. Hang in there!!
With Impulse, we are opening it up to all publishers of all venues - games, utilities, applications. So this is purchased adware? Anyone using this application will be served ads by any company you allow on Impulse? I don't think I'm understanding this right. The application itself is beautiful but it is already adware. Opening it up everyone is quite a statement. Is there going to be a way to disable advertising in this program or is everyone going to have to live with whatever is publi
According to a post Brad made in the Sneak Previews thread, the different version numbers you'll see in Impulse over SDC are due to the fact that it behaves differently on the back end. So exactly what the updated versions specifically are is still unclear, but at least Stardock acknowledges that this is normal behavior.-HM
Correct. The reason is because each application is published independently. If the version is a bit different it is probably an increme
Should I uninstall SDC?
If you start using Impulse as your download manager, there is no need to keep SDC unless you want to use SDC archive files. We will support SDC archives in a later version of Impulse, however at this time you may want to keep SDC around.
Try stopping other downloads you have going and you will see BITS start to use the available bandwidth.I noticed that. It installs in 3 phases. It downloads, downloads again and then installs. That's why the "usual" install time was way off, compared to other installers. I get that, now.Not downloading anything. Updates and firewall are all turned off. Just trying to log-in and still can't.I think I'll just wait for the final release, then ask questions, if need be.
Wh
Are you running any firewalls?Just Windows on Vista. Turned it off, no luck.In all the years I've owned a computer, not once have I ever had to turn off or disable the firewall, to install anything.Seems a little fishy, if I have to start now, just to use this. Hmmm...
Z71, Impulse utilizes the Windows Update technology to do downloads (the technology is called BITS). The way it works is that BITS is aware of bandwidth requirements of other applicaitons.&
Impulse is running fine for me except that installed versions and available update versions don't match between SDC and Impulse. In Impulse, WB keeps showing an available update that is older than the installed version. In SDC IP shows 3.20a[RC].033 available when 3.20.137 is installed, yet in Impulse IP shows 3.20.137 installed and 3.99[b].045 available. ObjectDockPlus is likewise messed up. In SDC it shows DriveScan,Enhanced File Dialog,Object Edit,Object Zip,SpringFolders and TreeVi
On Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition R2 SP2 - Impulse will not install Windowblinds 6. It claims it is not compatible with this version of Windows.Stardock Central will install it just fine. Also, on the Windowblinds website it states that it IS compatible with Windows Server 2003.
This has been fixed in the database. Next time a WindowBlinds update is published Impulse will allow an install on 2003 Server.

You must be tesing Impulse as well! First off I have to thank you for putting time into testing our products. With that said we will take your feedback to heart and look into working your comments into the product. #1 might be kind of difficult however because IconPackager is not WindowBlinds so the preview will probably always be on Windows Luna/Aero. Also, you happened to stumble on the ALPHA! (Read: It is not being released for ODNT BETA yet.) But

All, Thank you very much for putting your time into test driving the preview of Impulse! We appreciate your comments. For those with issues with SkinStudio 6 download issues, please try again. We have updated the files on the server to resolve the issue. I have taken notes of your suggestions and we will work to include them into the next release of Impulse.
