It looks like quite a few players don't know about the flying camera mode in Civilization IV, which allows you to view the game in any camera angle and to zoom in real close. To use it, you need to first activate it in the CivilizationIV.ini file, which is located under "\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4".
