I like to play on the largest map size because on the smaller ones I feel like I reach critical mass before getting half-way through any of the tech trees. (I play on Challenging/Hard World/AI with 8+ opponents ) Larger maps also offer more opportunities to hit adventure locations.

I'm getting this problem with the beta as well. The debug.err file in myGames\Elemental is at http://www.mediafire.com/?p15z276157369t2 When I try to [shift+tab] nothing happens until I get the message that Elemental "Failed to download data file." When I try to login through the [shift+tab] menu bar I get the the following error message "An error occurred trying to process your request." 1.11 was working fine ea
I just finished a 1.6 DA game where the drengin created the most powerful medium hulled ships I'd seen thus far. They were attack 186 / 0 / 0 defense 3 /0 / 3 26 hit points They had racial bonuses of ~80% weapons and ~60% defense, but that is already factored into the ship stats, right? These ships were almost always used to guard planets. I created a medium hulled ship attack 226 / 0 / 0 defense 0 / 0 / 0 28 hit points to coun
Piznit, if your labs would be producing 500 base rps and you have the +20% racial modifier then you get 10%(500)= 50 rps for free. They are treated exactly the same way as the points from a research treaty, only they are linked to your research production. You also get an additional 10%(500)=50 rps that you have to fund, so it would be like having extra labs producing a total of 50 rps except you don't pay maintenance, just the cost to fund the research. The free points have nothing to
I'm pretty sure that half the bonus production for racial picks is free, but the other half you have to pay for.
Thank you for all the advice.
Thank you, I will have to try the blockade with my left over ships from the previous war. I do play in DA. It's not that I can't build ships, it's that I rarely have enough high manufacturing worlds to build a fleet all at once, so I have to run and hide and stall while building a fleet, and once I do have a fleet, there's usually something more important for it to be doing than sitting on top of a starbase, especially with how quickly the starships become obsolete. (I have been playin
I have been struggling through crippling and sooner or later, somebody with a vastly superior fleet declares war on me and wipes out my precious mining starbases. Sometimes I can draw their fleet into chasing one of my faster ships. When this doesn’t work, the enemy fleet(s!) normally blast my more prominent starbases and then come sit on my planets. I don’t mind having enemy fleets circling my worlds since it means I can sneak a constructor or two back onto the resource node. I would really
Thinking and brooding on neutrality, the Arceans decided that all that was good and all that was evil must be wiped from the face of this sector. And so they cleansed their sector in a river of alien blood for they were the only neutral race in the sector. Despite never meeting head to head the dreaded Drengin still managed to oppress their fleeing slaves who insisted on huddling in the middle of the map Edit: seems one of the compression schemes somewhere along the way was lossy 2 games Character: Gustavus Version: 1.61DA <br
I finally switched from GC:I to DA last Tuesday, and after reading the forums I decided to try both an all labs approach and an all factory approach, while I eventually won the all labs game with a tech victory it totally ruined my economy to the point where I never did get it to run in the positives, and would often be running only 2-3 weeks out of any given month and it ended up taking years for me to get a tech victory. The all factory game is still in progress and victory is doubtful, I jus
I'm currently playing a game on Tough as the Drengin, and the Yor declared war on me about 10-12 weeks ago, but they haven't attacked yet. I've seen one or two of their fleets, but they just sailed right past me and back into their own territory. They are the third race that's at war with me currently and are right next door to me; they actually have two of my planets surrounded by planets of their own. Why would they declare war and then not attack? I currently have the lowest milit
