I'm using WindowsXP64. No love for me either. XP64 is the only OS I can use. Vista's 3D support is all jacked up for the software I make my living using and regular XP32 can't see past 2 gigs of ram without crashing. I think Stardock may have lost me.

Zubaz: Very good question. I'd like to know the answer to that as well. GreenReaper: I guess the main reason I am using Object Desktop in the first place is because I hate Windows. I prefer being on my Macs but the apps I use/need aren't on that platform. Vista doesn't interest me at all. An OS that requires me to upgrade my hardware? Shouldn't the goal of any OS be to use less and less system resources in order for applications to perform better on that platform? I don't "get it". Win

I have been updating my Object Desktop subscription for quite a while now but. . . for the last year or so it really doesn't feel like I'm getting much out of it. Everything feels stale. I love Windowblinds, DriveScan and IconPackager but most of the others, including DesktopX, ObjectBar, RightClick, ObjectMedia etc. all seem as though they are early betas of things that could have been great but just aren't being developed any more. And then there are things that are being released by Stardo

Your probably a kick ass dude but in this I felt you were a little out place as the go-to-guy in the whole Alias Autodesk thing and got some things wrong. I fealt it was appropriate to voice my opinion. I don't know how to program. I haven't ever created software or websites as popular as yours. Your "da man" for that. No? I also never really claimed to be an authority. I just think I happen to know a little bit more about th

It is used in a vast majority of movies Frog. But its just one of many tools. Its also quite replacable with the new interchanging tools becoming more and more popular. Studios like to keep their options open. It just so happens to have the biggest mind share. Yes Maya was used in the Lord of the Rings rather heavily. But so was Z-Brush and Renderman and Massive and a whole host of custom in-house tools from compositors to motion capture software

think that is being a little pedantic, when we say rendered in, in general people are refering to the package used to work on the animation. When you press the "Render" button on your rendering application. Thats rendering. Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Lighting. . . all different. "Rendered in" to

When you listen to the podcast. . . he mentions Battlestar and Stargate as examples of things done in Maya and Max. I'm sorry CarebroJD but. . . nothing is rendered in Maya. Nadda. They either use a version of Renderman, (ILM/Starwars, Pixar/Nemo,) some in house custom tool (PDI/Shrek, BlueSky/Robots) or Mental Ray. These options cost small fortunes to run and support when you start building a renderfarm and are therefore are only opti

Oh my. Battlestar and Stargate are both done in Lightwave. Power User TV might. . . want to fact check a little. Or at least interview people who are in the industries they are talking about. Part of the dominance of Maya isn't really its use in the market. . . but its perceived dominance. This is a shining example of that.

I just had something really weird happen to my two systems that I am using Multiplicity on. Out of nowhere the pointer on my screen dissapeared and the caps-lock light on my keyboards started to blink in sync with each other. It was like some kind of funky SOS code. lots of little short blinks. . . 3 long ones short, long etc. I had to shut one of the machines down to make it stop.

Well. . . I hosed this User's. . . data. Or something. I installed sharpE with a user account and then. . . for some dumb reason it wouldn't let me log into that account. So I logged in as Administrator, had a look around at sharpE. . . decided it wasn't for me and un-installed it. Then I tried to log into my regular user account that has all my nice settings. Nothing. I just get a mouse and a background. SharpE has hosed this User account. So I can either start again with a new one or
