Troll, indeed. Let's not feed the trolls. There are those of us who know the value of this, and those who never will. No sense in arguing with them or trying to convert them. Time best spent helping the developers. We'll spend our money the way we want, and they can spend it they way they want. Never the twain shall meet... (My first and last time spent on a troll.)
Hexagon system: The galaxy could be more rounded - I found a giant hexagon a bit displeasing to play in and a little too fake feeling. The background grey fog surrounding the galaxy could be transparent and fill the entire view area when zoomed out. Currently, the vast grey fog makes the galaxy map isolated in the universe. Would be cool to have 3D stars/galaxies in the background to feel more immersed in space.
<
I posted this in another thread, but am placing it here, too. Here's my initial experiences and thoughts. Not sure of the protocol here, so I'll just stream my thoughts for the devs. It's a long list, but a combination of observations, wish-list items, and questions. 1. Installation via Steam was flawless. 2. No bugs noted, no crashes during initial gameplay so far. Very nice initial impression. 3. Music was good; heard the same themes as from GC2, but up

I must say, this looks very good for an Alpha. Excitement builds...
Nice. Missing something... a battlecruiser pummeling a small transport? No, that's been done... A space station? Speaking of which, we need space stations in GC3, some planetary orbital defense?
I'm very much liking this concept. As opposed to some others, I always found the sliders to be a bit artificial (?). Personal opinion, but I do agree with others in this post that the wheel probably allow for more refined changes to the system Production Matrix?
I'd add a few more (if I may): a. civil wars -- real ones, not just rebellious planets (I'm re-reading Mote in God's Eye, and civil wars can be devastating and very disruptive) b. repair ships (tenders) to enhance repairing damaged ships in deep space, like on the border of your empire (this is in addition to Starbase modules) c. missions -- I'd love to see special missions, such as "Investigate this system" or "this wreckage" -- somethin
Understood, and standing by...
I just found out a couple days ago, too, MichaelEspebu , and only hesitated a day... ha! How could I possibly NOT get GalCiv III? I still pick up II every few months and form an empire.
Probably shooting for "deMichelle" -- a name I use in online games as it's a compilation of three folks I know.
Back to Joe's original post... I'm with you, Joe. I've been playing GalCiv since, well, GalCiv started (way back), and I think the idea of having personages to follow (and train-up, etc.) would be a nice addition (I would say to even include senior ship captains -- not all, skip them Lieutenants and Commanders in the small ships). That kind of added component (at least for me) links me to the goings on in the game at a more personal level (yes, yes, I was in the Navy). Now, t
