The keyboard Windows Start buttons no longer open the Start11 menu. Clicking on the OS GUI Start button works as expected. I have performed a purge and reinstall, but the problem persists. This OPs post was quite a long time ago and still no answer to this. I'm not sure how Start11 determines search result order, but the Start11 "Best match" is almost never the most used or wanted result. If Start11 isn't going to use frequency of use for search result order, then users should be able to manually influence that order by starring apps or some other methodology.

I use OneDrive files on demand for all my document storage. Windows Search returns results for my documents but Start11 does not. Any update on this problem? Start11 search results are worse than ever. Searching "update" doesn't even bring up a link to Windows Update in settings anymore, while native Windows search brings up a long list of related options. I prefer the search interface on Start11 but have had to disable Start11 search in order to reliably be able to find anything that's not a start menu shortcut.

Rebuilding the search index did not improve the search results. Setting Start10 to use "Cortana" search instead of built-in does cause the missing programs to be returned in results, but this option suffers from a bug where the first letter typed never registers (the first keypress seems to only initiate the search, but isn't passed the character typed).

My shortcuts are almost universally stored in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs However, I have discovered that the only shortcuts appearing in Start10 seem to be coming from the registry or some other source because, when you open their location, explorer opens to the application install folder, not the shortcuts folder, which would be the normal behavior if the shortcut source were the Start Menu folders.
