I didn't read any of what you wrote, I didn't even buy the founder's edition. I mentioned I paid 70 bucks because that means it's not an indie game. Sure, GC3 isn't Triple A, but it's at least A, maybe double A, it's certainly not indie, and it is too bugged to play without mods. Stop projecting.

Damn. I'm sharing my house with family now, which means the internet is constantly hogged by my Netflix watching brethren, which means I can't play online games, which means I really want to play some good offline, 4X games, and I'm all played-out with Civ. I wish GC3 was playable. I'm not asking much, I really just want the AI to be able to grow it's population. That's all I ask. Why is this seen as too much? I just want the AI to be able to play the game at a basic level. I could even live
The main difference between Civ and GC is simply that Civ is a professional, high quality product produced by a professional company. Bugs are ironed out very quickly after release. Game balance is debatable but, with Civ4 and Civ5 the balance wasn't horrible at release and improved a lot with expansions. The games were built very well and all it took was a tiny bit of modding by the community to turn them into legendary masterpieces. With GC3, on the other hand,

A mod like this might convince me to return to this game.
BTW, fired up the current version on Steam. Looked at a random AI world and saw this: Reduced 29% Original 3075 x 2015 No mods. Default settings. Normal AI. So yes, the AI builds farms.
Well I have 3 save game files of completed games against Gifted AI, games that lasted about 200 turns, on large maps, and there is not a single AI fa
The true cause is quite obvious, especially to anyone who has ever modded AI before. It is actually very difficult to build a competent AI in a complex game such as GC3, which is something that a good developer will keep in mind when designing the mechanics of the game. Warcraft 3's AI was lousy, but it didn't matter because everyone just played multiplayer. In GC, there is zero MP community, everyone plays SP against the computer, thus the AI is EXTREMELY importa
I'm so unimpressed with Brad Wardell (Frogboy). All it took was a player to spend a few hours modding to address the issue. Wardell made some serious mistakes with Crusade. Making farms + cities a two step process is difficult for the AI to handle. Also, monsantum is the most valuable resource in the game now, and it's quite rare. Monsantum should be reworked or removed entirely from the game. There's just no way the AI understands how important it is and to prioritize finding/a
I could upload at least 3 save game files of games I won at Gifted where the AI hadn't built a single farm or city by the end of the game. Does anyone actually care, though? I mean, I could do so for those people who still don't believe that the AI can't build farms/cities just to prove them wrong. I'm not sure what's going on, though. Either everyone knows the AI is broken and they just don't care, or they don't believe the AI is broken. If it's the former, I'm sorry I wasted money on t
What? No, just no. This is different. It's not even a complex issue, it's really just one issue - population growth. That's it. They went and implemented the massive change of global food and cities for Crusade and didn't bother programming the AI to know how to handle it. That and they made raw production = population, so now population is key to winning, but the AI is incapable of growing theirs. If they would just fix this one issue the game would be playable. There would still be other fl
I only started playing it recently, so I can't comment on pre-crusade, but at the moment, GC3 deserves to be critisized. -AI can't grow its population, so even Godlike feels like playing on easy mode -AI doesn't understand the fleet ship role system, so even if my technology and production are identical to the AI, I'll win battles easily, simply by making defense heavy escorts and weapons only capital ships. There is no point introducing a mechanic into a s
For those not seeing the AI build farms when Brad insists that they do and for those winning easily. I suggest to play nothing less than Incredible. My issue on incredible is that I am quickly conquering the Yor and they aren't able to expand their synthetic population as they don't have the resources early to do so. As for farms on AI worlds, I cannot tell this early and it will depend and whether I can take planets fro
Okay what am I doing wrong? I have Crusade, I have the latest version. I put 130 hours into this game and haven't seen an AI build a farm once. Without farms, the AI is just too easy and the game is just boring and there's just no point in playing. So how do I get the AI to build a farm? I have save game files from the games I won and you can see that the AI never grows its population. What is the fix to this? Should I reinstall? Seems like others had this problem but there is a fix to it? Or
