I think the scientific revolution changed a mindset in ways of thinking. A caveman seeing a rock that was too hard to shatter for stone arrowheads might dismiss it until a later breakthrough made him say, "Wow, this iron stuff is actually cool, let me make note of where I spotted the stuff." It isn't that the metals were "hidden", the people just didn't realize their importance enough to bother with until later. But by the time we got to space exploration, we have reached the

So playing Crusade and a few things seem to me to be a bit off - not so much bugs as design decisions that don't really fit to my mind. 1. The Slyne have a trait that gives them Zero Gravity Construction to start. I'm assuming this is to allow them to get Engineer citizens from the beginning, but it doesn't make logical sense - why would they be able to build medium ships before they can build small ships? Not to mention potential balance issues of building a ship two tiers higher tha
Had an incident last night where I was playing against a custom created civ, and one of the options to trade was a weird string - MainFactionDriveTech or something. Will get a screenshot if I see it again. Ditto on getting double resources on planets. Also, I duplicated all the main factions (wanted them to start with Scout ships rather than Survey ships) I found that a) homeworld names changed, and b) citizens default to human pictures. This in addition to Terrans and A
Yeah, I reported this as a bug a few days ago. They are showing net income from colonies only... not starbases or ships. Really annoying to have everything grind to a halt because you didn't check a second source of info, and took me several turns (and a citizen) to dig out of it.
Diplomacy Bug: When viewing the details of existing treaties, some of the elements are called "New Game" - I don't remember exactly which ones they were but they were all resource trades. However, the Open Borders treaty and money transfer displayed correctly.
Another one: The "Net Income" tooltip doesn't include ship and starbase maintenance. Kind of annoying when your research and production grind to a halt and the game is telling you that your treasury should be increasing. (It does tell you these things on the Government screen, but the two should be synced I'd think.)
I don't know if it changed function but the Xenophobic trait doesn't actually list what it does. All the rest give some description of what you are getting for it.
Think I just found one. Built a second survey ship, which cost me an Administrator. However, later it was blown up by pirates. Yet the administrator resource still claims I have two survey ships. Did the administrator get blown up with the ship?
So... when is the next Dev Blog? It has been two weeks now...
Saw I saw in last dev diary that Crusade will allow Privateers - fleets that can attack but don't show insignia. I'm curious, are these disguised any other way? I'm thinking about the multiplayer implications, specifically. If I design a ship and make it a privateer, it might not bear my flag but it'll be kind of obvious if it is an Arcean ship and I'm the only player using Arcean shipsets. Or if it is a custom ship at all in a 1v1 game with AI opponents. Will othe
And you notice, I haven't even really gotten into Invasions yet... NEXT WEEK: INVASIONS!
Did anybody else read this as, "You'll have to wait at least another week for this to come out," lol? I have stopped playing the base game because I&
Every starbase uses only 1 admin, regardless of modules.
This is one of the projects, I believe. All the stuff after shipyards are not actually buildings but rather infinite duration projects that turn manufacturing into something else. Because they don't end, they just give a duration of N/A.
Yeah, there are a few of those in the tech tree as well.
Ole Spidey's Map mod removes Administrators as of 2.0.
Well, that explains a lot. Guess I'll have to deal with cramped smaller maps. :-/
No there is no "main" file, you need to edit every factions ship style(which is all in one file for Vanilla, 2 files if your have Mercs or 3 if your have Snathi too) to remove them.
Yep, that's what I did. Kind of a pain. Might be a b
Having recently gotten into the modding behind the game, I was wondering if it was possible to do a few things, and if so, what files I would need to modify. Mods I already use: - Ole Spidey's Map Size Mod, which reverts map condition back before 1.8.3. So far no issues with this! - Terraforming mod, which I custom built - it allows terraforming to be used more than once BUT they cost more and also require durantium, promethium, and thuli
So can anyone tell me where I can see my administration value? I have 2.0 but the game is pretty much playing the same for me. (I never used multiple starbases per planet anyhow.) One difference is that I ran out of planets nearby early on so I was forced into a taller strategy than I am used to, but I still have a ton of relic/mining starbases out there. But I don't see my administrators on any screen.

I'm curious what determines the amount of points needed to claim Ascension victory - is it just map size or crystal abundance as well? I was playing on an insane map with rare crystals, and apparently needed 100,000 points to win. I had uncovered probably half the map tiles (custom ships with really high moves and sensors and nothing else) and found about 5 crystals total. Even supposing I had only found a quarter of the crystals that would put about 20 on the map, which means tha
Or maybe a later version of 3? I really like this game - my favorite 4x game so far! (Well, okay, Alpha Centauri might tie, but that's tough to get running now.) However, as much as I like it, there are some things I wish it did that I don't know if they could be modded in. * Race specific ideologies. How does each race order their values and culture to be "good" or "evil"? For example, the Krynn could have their internal war of religion v
Thanks. I had recently installed Uplay for another game and apparently that was it. At least, it is working now!
Having the same problem, but unlike above doesn't seem to be fixing itself. Haven't used the launcher before - had taken a break for some other games - and the launcher works with Offworld Trading Company. However, GalCiv3 just keeps saying it is preparing to launch, then going back to the launcher. I tried validating game files (apparently all present) and rebooting the computer (didn't help). Even tried launching directly from the executable (which just launches the laun
