Just as a head's up, as much as I enjoy seeing my work on balance and AI critiqued, you'll be happy to know I won't be working on GalCiv III for the near future. I'll be checking in to see when the Steam review score gets over 70 for recent reviews as a cue to look at working on the AI and balance. I don't see any reason for us to keep providing free updates when the reaction is so negative. T
Given all the issues the Windows platform has had in recent days would you change your gaming OS to Linux if the platform saw more support from developers?
What issues may I ask? I have run a windows machine since 1992 and rarely have had issues. Linux people sometimes seem to come across so arrogant at times and think the operating system they like to run is the best ever. In the past I have tried OS2, have set up and run a Linux op
I agree ..I only play at Gifted level but I have noticed a big improvement with the ai in regard to the their fleets and how they will go for you if they sense a weakness. My fleets no longer just over run all the ai's fleets and I am a lot more careful with getting a more mixed fleet.
One early thing to do is find the bazaar and I personally get another survey ship to explore and grab all those anomalies many of which grant you coin!!!
DisableDLC "Crusade" Right click your game in Steam.. Go to properties Set Launch options and paste DisableDLC "Crusade"
One thing I can recommend is going a diplomacy route and finding an ally/friends to make life easier in the galaxy. To do this when you select your race, decide on the ideology you plan to focus on as it is a lot easier to ally with someone playing the same ideology. I usually pick at least one race in the game setup who will have the same ideology as myself. Trade with that ai, give them gifts, if they ask for something give it to them. I find they won't attack
I played a game today and had a pirate survey vessel (6 moves/6 sensor/31 hitpoints and all three weapon types) near my home world which destroyed my survey vehicle and first colony ship so I restarted the game because even though I was playing on gifted I find that if you get even further behind you will be the little kid in the playground being bullied by all the big kids. Thankfully this start is rare as I have pirates on rare in the setup.
Do you mean a rally point?
Thankyou :)
I have played the galCiv3 campaigns over the last year or so on different computers. How can I get the most up to date mission transferred to another computer...I went to continue a campaign recently and discovered I had already completed the next mission in the queue previously because I had played it on my laptop so how can I transfer the completed mission on the laptop over so I don't have to play it again?
Ok It seems from the read me that you use a command line. I tried that in the Steam Launch Options for GalCiv 3 -DisableDLC "Crusade ... it works!! --i
I am having trouble playing most of the campaigns with Crusade (crashing to desktop)installed and I have a strong feeling that most campaigns anyway are based on the older version. How can I switch to the base game to play the campaigns. Thanks :)
I crash every time I try to start a campaign...I can play random games just not campaigns. I am using the opt in.
Yes that sorted out the crashes with the Diplomacy Screen I was having with a custom civ. :)
Never played Robotic civ....so got that wrong.
I must still have lots to learn about this game even after 100 hrs+...even if I am now on my 1st play through of a synthetic race.... OK Synthetic races don't grow??? How then is population increased? I know they need durantium and if they start at 2 on a 4 planet I assumed they grew to four slowly and then I build a city and that gets them going?? Also how do you shuttle civs to another planet?
I am playing a custom race and the game is on Turn 42 and it crashes every time I try to enter the diplomacy menu. I recently finsihed another game over 300 turns and maybe only one crash whole game but this current game I feel I can't really continue as I do go to the Diplomacy screen often.
I think you would NOT be disappointed in getting Crusade addon... I too found the base game fairly dull, and tedious but I have become addicted to GalCiv 3 Crusade... it is now an absorbing game with some excellent new mechanics...Citizens allow you to customize your play style/strategy, there is a new civ builder if that interests you, espionage, trading, diplomacy and like CivVI adjacency bonuses mean that a little bit of thought needs to go into what you build on your planets. <
Maybe I didn't play much of the base game GalCiv3 because I didn't really like it but this new upgrade to Crusade has just made the game soooo much better that I am now playing it over all my other 4x games. Honestly there doesn't seem to be much I would consider overwhelming. Citizens are straight forward, the tech tree like all these games just happens to get easier with playing the game and finding what works... diplomacy/spies are no big deal and all that is really needed by a new p
Thanks for that excellent advice...I did have a whole lot Research buildings queued and cancelling those gave me enough promethium to build that last building and win the game after 380 turns!!! :) I am learning more about this game all the time..loving it now with Crusade but never got into GalCiv3 as I found it very slow, didn't always know what I was doing and just tedious at the time...sometimes I think you need to just play these games until you get a good grasp of them and with understa
Playing on a large map with around ten opponents. Game at Turn 360 and I just need to build the Ascension Building but it needs 20 promethium..no worries...making over 4 a turn. But as soon as it gets to around 4 surplus the next turn back to zero... something must be using it... every upgrade and any ship I build I check it is not using promethium...So is there something that uses it every turn that I need to turn off? I'll scrap it if necessary. I know I can win...I don't /can't win any oth
Thanks for that info... At least I didn't do something odd during the installation.
I have an issue with this mod but I could have made an error with installation but I have installed it twice now. In the bazaar I no longer get ship icons but race pictures. Is this normal or have I done something wrong?
Ok I can't find out a lot about some of the resources you collect during a game. I realize some which are mined are used for missiles, ship hulls and defenses but let's take one resource as an example..... Snuggler Colony I found out helps influence growth....I might get this on a specific colony or from a surveyor ship finding it. So if I have three of these does that mean my global influence is increased by 15%??? There are so many resources though I have no idea how they can
