Quoting Werewindlefr, reply 20Banished, the first "die and retry" city builder. Dwarf Fortress?
That is more like "die abnormally and horribly, in many various and creative ways, and then retry". :-D
I'll happily argue against it being a "better tactical" when not only were most tactical features "streamlined out" but, and this is the bug that crawled up me arse, the game was replete with illogical animations, etc., that made no sense and just came across as incredibly lazy. Shooting through solid objects as if they aren't there yet being forced to acknowledge 'em as solid in every other asp
I hate to micro manage. As said given a choice I will automate all the mundane stuff. Press the turn button and let the AI manage.
The definition of mundane, is perhaps the crucial point here. If/when the game starts to play itself, it has obviously gone too far. ;-)
I dunno... The latest X-com was dumbed down yet still would have worked for me if it hadn't been for the illogical physics behavior/drawn actions (whatever). Whatever behaviors and animations to signify actions are there shouldn't break the physics of the created universe, breaking immersion. For the company it often means attracting new people (read: additional) to the franchise to which they can then build up
In my own Civ games when they used to have Governor AI to do things. I would always micro manage the hell out of the city FIRST. Get it to wehre I needed it to be, then just let the AI Governeors do what I had designed the city to do. This allowed me to more concentrate on my capitals and the death war machine, I mean 'totally non-aggressive self-defense-force-so-dont-worry-ai-opponents'. I have no problems wit

Always had a soft (by nature) spot for "not very organic friendly" robots. Be that Cylons, Cyberdyne, the Cyberiad, or the former (Yor) Collective! Sweet imagery is not going to purge any such urges! *Runs off to start a Yor campaign in "Twilight of the Arnor" to exorcise any emotional misbehavior caused by the above picture*

Would rather take a little more eye candy over voice acting. If there is any budgetary considerations involved that is! Grew up with books, so can still "generate voices" in my head. He he. We can ill afford another Mass Effect III ending, caused by excessive voice acting! Kidding!!!

It is easier to say what I like the least. For it is a much shorter list! He he! What I don't like so much is the late city sprawl. I feel it should be harder but not impossible to build so many cities, rather than pop them all over like crazy. Reminds me too much of Ultima Online where you could not see the forest for all the buildings. :-)

It looks incredibly tranquil and relaxing, with great seasonal moods! Only just ... a little bit run-of-the-medieval-mill. I played all the Caesar City building games, so got spoiled with Elephants in title number two! Nothing can top that, so my apologies for that bit of criticism. It is totally unfair, since the climate obviously is highly unsuitable for Elephants! :-)

Recently installed and played GalCiv II again, and have to say that the Jagged Knife in my last game represented not so much a disaster, as an opportunity to greatly expand, since you could not only retake previously owned worlds, but also those formerly occupied by your neighbours. You need the tech to send out troop transports of course. But that's about it. Only three to four worlds, had a single fighter to stop an invasion! I would still like such an eno

Come not Mars but May, when winter is almost a forgotten dream... But then we should be out in this world I guess. And not a digital one. Easy to say now, while it is still winter. And you care little for the darkness outside... I don't think Mars will win this one either. Hard as it might try. ;-)

I can see entire constellations here. I will use a name from the past, and honor my part of something that was once said. Nobody gets the wiser. But you get a Star! So everyone wins. And that is just perfect. May they all shine brightly! :-)

The problem has often been that people have complained about "being forced" to do something, and then things get automated, or simply removed, which in turn leaves you with too little to do. The level of possible interaction must stay high, or else you end up as a passive observer, rather than an active manipulator. With passitivity comes the question of interactivity, or lack thereof. There must be something to do, all the time, or else what use has the game for a player! ;-) <p

I would rather have the best GalCiv ever, rather than a new MOO III. A new MOO II we will not get in any case. Let the spheres be separated, and divination be sorted out accordingly. This is how things stay true to their nature. And if the battles looks pretty, that's a bonus, since you can sit back and drink while watching them!

I usually found the most fun with Yor or Krynn. Whatever their second form and label should be now, in this glorious future! Seeing as these Earthlings finally have found the time to actually kick the seating musculature (or comparably accessible parts ) of the Xeno, maybe it is time to get back to the roots! Finally a way to turn diplomatic failure into a strategy!

There is a great hunger for a good 4X game lurking out there. You just need to throw a rock (or a youtube video) down into the internet well, and there will be drums in the deep! Now for the hard questions! To start with Terrans to get into the new stuff, or just pick an old favorite, and see where they have gone. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions! Sweet decisions! And merely a multitude of months to go with that!

Looks nice. I just hope the depth is maintained, nothing "dumbed down", like they did with Civ V, compared to Civ IV. With "dumbed down", I mean "made accessible for a broader imaginary audience that might or might not exist", of course. Those new Hexes makes me sort of nervous. But only a little. It is like a greater "game cultural influence" you know? You wonder if something "flipped over". As long as it stays true to itself we should pretty much be safe though. Just don't re-invent the
