Same reason we bought a truck. We live 3 miles from our workplace. The truck lets me take stuff to the dump whenever I need to. I can bring actual lumber home from the lumberyard. Furniture hauling is no longer an issue. Well I won't be voting for him either and you have hit most of the reasons why.
