Escort frigates you think? That because escorts get taregtted before everything else? Could go for Guardian Frigates. Would make Logical sense to go for guardian fighters to defend the Battlestars.. ...Drengin have 6 huge hull carriers in one fleet !

bump using AI ship tweaks I started using carriers ONLY because I downloaded Battlestar Galactica ship model. And thought ohhh I'll make it a Carrier. I get 15 Assault fighters on it, and yes, they are bad boys. The problem comes when you come up agaisnt Carriers... Carriers vs Carriers.. Assault fighter vs Assault fighrer.. Drengin have fleets full of carriers... I think I need some Guardians :Z|
So I use alot of Carriers. And I've never come up agaisnt any race using alot of carriers before. Now I've installed the AI tweaks mod, I am coming up agaisnt carriers. It's funny when two carrier fleets meet. The Assault fighters fly past each other and destroy each others carriers. Then they fight... but no carrier to hold them. Ive not used Guardians much. But looking at ship roles it seems I need some
It's only happened once or twice past 20 turns or so. So it's not a big deal.
Could it be my user made Ship hull?
It doesn't happen *all* the time just occassionaly :/
I guess I could live with it. Think it could happen again? I noticed it happen specifically with my Long range carriers with survey modules. -
Thanks for the quick reply. And I am immensely enjoying your mods :) The AI is now a challenge. I'm beating the Snathi all over the shop. But they are noobs and didnt research Logistics. Drengin have logistics 60 and Assault Carriers themselves so when they finish with Arceans they should come for me - looking forward to that Might actually reach turn 200 without being the dominant empire for first time EVER playing this game ;) --
Also it usually shows 000/000/000 On Assault fighters weapon stats when you click them in drop down menu, but they are not visible and do not shoot
Hi GalCivers I've noticed this a few times and it's starting to annoy me. Nothing I love more than watching my Assault Fighters swarm over enemy fleets and destroy them before they reach my carriers. I'm noticing a bug where the battle is a certain victory, you watch the battle, and the assault fighters do not show?.... usually I auto resolve battle when I see this, and always it says victory, but then when go back to Galaxy map, my ship dies
The Snathis salavged one of my super battlestars with kinetic augmentation! I had to bring 4 battlestars to take it down! Maybe they have exploration treaty with someone else nearby?
I usually play as Thalan to be honest... Can't beat those Hives! I havn't even tried the Yor tech tree yet - synthetic just doesn't appeal to me hehe
So I had to use my 'No war for 50 turns' early. I'm up to turn 85, and the Godlike AI are miles in front, the Incredible AI still about same level as me. Snathi have a Vengeance class Huge ship with Plasma pods :O This is definitely a bit more of a challenge! haha. I went Benevolent route this time and really missing those Industrial bonus that the Malevolent tree gives! I found a Gaian planet though which was like class 47! Ta

wow first play through. Excessive map, met the AI and Iconians have 12 systems, me only 9 and Terrans have 9 systems too. Never seen the AI colony spam so good at start! I'm playing Godlike with 15 AI civs. Let's see how I get on - fortunately I have found a Durantium Moon World which is always a nice boost to begin with - wish it was Thulium though - love spamming 5 research worlds fast with that early thulium...
ok so I downloaded 'AI TWEAKS' and 'PLANETARY DIVERSITY' which looked like a cool mod too, I enabled mods ingame, restarted and put mods in My Games/GalCiv3/Mods folder Is that all I have to do to enable them? Anywhere to check they are active?
Ok I will install this AI mod! Hope for some more challenging games! Im just a bit noob with mods and such :)
You can only build 1 Solar. Try aim for this to get maximum industry; Hive/Durantium Refinery/Industrial Wonder in the centre, surrounded by 5 Mega and 1 Solar. Will definitely give a big industry output when fully upgraded.
Perhaps I should add 3-4 weak AI races to stimulate the other AI to war them? The 'hated' trait. That counts for Iconian vs Yor? Perhaps I'll do an Iconian play through and hope the Yor get a good startup.
Yeah I'm playing on Godlike! AI just can't build the ships that can beat my fully loaded massive hull carrier fleets!
My empire is called the Cajee Dynasty! Any key industrial centre gets called something such as.. Kitajiwa... Kitagawa Any Research planet gets 'Cajee' prefix Any Economic planet gets 'Disse' prefix and any Culture/Tourism hub gets 'Reje' prefix very easy to see where all my planets are and what they do!

I just need a bit of a challenge from the AI. I guess I'll play on a smaller map so I meet the AI sooner, seems to be on godlike the AI are very strong before turn 100, but after turn 120 or so just seem to stagnate. I like big maps and big empires though ! :(
Perhaps the AI isn't building these as they don't seem under any threat as such? Maybe I should declare war to prompt them into building more better ships? Perhaps I'm playing with too low races, I like living room so I usually go on 2nd largest map with around 30 AI races (15 godlike/15 incredible) It usually takes me until turn 120 to catch up technologically but I save the 'No One will declare war for 50 turns' ideology point to use when things are hotti
