I was surprised after installing build11 of the patch how fast the first two saves were after the first turn and after the 3rd turn. Then I didn't dsave for another 6 turns and the old superlong save with crash occurred. The error message was out of memory. I have my virtual memory set to 4 GB. I have 1 GB of physical memory. I had even eliminated a couple of ship designs from shipyards, though I did not have any ships with those designs. Ihad about 2 dozen of my own SuperNova class shi

I made a comment on the first issue you raised. It is a completely legitimate criticism and I was flamed for it. I have no gods or heros that I worship. There is nothing in this universe that is perfect. All should be able to be scrutinized and critiiczed, including me. I believe the antagonism exists because I said "there is no excuse" for Stardock to have tested 1.1 development only on 2gigabytes of memory. I will not temper that remark, it is entirely fair. I also said that assumptions are
I was not criticizing the effort for the 1.0 release. I specifically referred to the 1.1 release. Please get your facts straight.
I never used the word dumb or stupid. So forget the hyperbole.
I was not egotistically promoting anything. And you certainly will not squelch me. The thread was about the 1.1 memory problem. I have the problem big-time. If you did not attempt to muzzle me would have already moved on by now. So stop your personal attacks. I never made one in any of my posts. I posted a factual description of my own experiences with the memory crashes on the other similar thread in the forum area. I was not seeking a debate about os/2 or windows, simply making an obs
My crashes occurr only at time of saving, which usually goes on for 7 or 8 minutes before finally crashing. I had created a custom ship , I called Super Nova class. It was huge with many weapons and armor and defenses etc. But I never used any skins or extras for appearnce. I probably had 10 to 12 of these active at any given time in my huge galaxy. I has these ships before the 1.1 beta was released with no problems . I only started to use the 1.1 beta after its fifth iteration.
Your arguement is specious. I never said I primarily or exclusively use os/2 which, under its current flavor, is called eComStation v 1.2 . I primarily use windows XP. I rarely use os/2. That does not alter the fact that its memory management is far superior to anything that has ever come out of Redmond, Washington. And that matter has little relevance to my remarks in the flawed testing conducted for Galciv II v 1.1 . I was not nor am I now attempting to mock or belittle any individual
I really do not see the uproar over my comments as being warranted. They were stated forcefully, but not insultingly. Carielf has a very thin skin, indeed, if my caustic comments, which were entirely accurate, get under her skin. There is NO reason for Stardock not to have a handful of computers used for testing other than the state of the art developer's machines. I have participated in betas before for other software firms and most of the better one's do have a few variable configurat
I have had very long save times since before the 1.1 beta. It never crashed though until recently. By the way its not too difficult to pull out 1GB of memory from the developers computer. It takes about 3 minutes to open the case pop out the the one or two memory modules involved and close the case again. I think my remarks were not only on the money, but also humorously sarcastic. You failed to note the capitalized OBJECT lesson and the "windows -blinded " developers. I also would
So the the bottom line is that quick solutions are very often NOT the BEST solutions. So avoid quick solutions which cause your customers unnecessary grief. Secondly testing without lesss than 2 GB pysical memory was a very dumb move. Inexcuseable. I have 1GB memoery and most people have 500 MB. Since I saw posts on how GC II 1.0 was optimized for lesser memory confiurations the same should have applied to your testing process for 1.1. Assumption is the Mother of all f-ups as the vulg
Unlike the hot button to break alliances with major races there is no visible method to break an alliance with a minor race. the only way is if they are attacked and if you are prompted whether you will honor your alliance. I wanted to declare war against my ally and I had no way to do so since I could not break my alliance with the Akilians. This is definitely an oversight and should be fixed.
I had formed an alliance with the Akilians and when I wanted to break it off, I noticed there is not the same button to break alliances with minor races that exists with the major races. There is a box for trade embargo but that will not work until you can break the alliance. I have scoured every possible area. This is a serious error.
I am crashing with the latest video drivers installed. It is childish and simple-minded of you to conclude that most if not all crashes are due to old video drivers. When I hit the turn button sometimes the game crashes. It has nothing to do with video, so start using your brain and shut your mouth unless you have something positive to add to the discussion.

I created the"Fast transport" whichstarted with a cargo hull and 2 impulse engines a troops module and extended life support. Recently I upgraded the design in shipyards chaned the enines to warp IV and removed the old troop support module and replaced it with 2 advanced troop modules. Saved the new design and upgraded. Yet every new fast transport only allows 500 troops instead of 2000. I have rechecked the design and it is hust as I have explained. There has to be a bug in shipyar

How would I know if the video card overheated? As soon as I hit ctrl-alt-del and closed the galciv2.exe process all was well. I see no reason to assume it had anything to do with a heat problem, which I have never had in the 2 years I have used this card. The fan on the card is working well. The case is cool and very well ventilated.
I was 5 hours into game play as Terran Alliance invading several Altarian planets on my turn . The video started jumping as I invaded a planet and was unreadable. Using Abit nvidia nForce 2 motherboard with Athlon XP 2500 processor. 1 GB of matched Kingston Hyperx 4400 memory. Using Windows XP Pro service pack 2 . Video card is ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 8x agp card. Using latest Catalyst drivers from ATI website version 6.2. I have never had a video crash on previous Stardock rel
Many truths but one BIG FALSEHOOD. The Left is not the Democratic Party in this country. The Democratic Party is a party representing the interests of finance capital :ie Chase , Exxon-Mobil, etc. It is financed primarily by bourgois business interests just as the Republican Party is financed. The Left in this country is represented by the interests of the working class. The revolutionary communist movement is and has always been the LEFT. You
The #4 server is the slowest, at about 85KB/sec average . california is the next slowest at 100 KB/sec averahge. Chicago is running at 125 KB/sec . These are pathetically slow. I have an 8Mb/sec cable connection. When the server s are optimal from Stardock, I have averaged from 600KB/sec to 900KB/sec. The server farm has not proved nearly as effective as Brad had predicted.
Yes the game installs, but the mutiledia.movies, and tutorial all fail to install. Is this by design???

Stardock Cebntral like Steam?? Bullcrap. It's far better tha Steam. Steam essentially takes over your whole computer. And if they make a mistake in their software download your screwed. I had bought an ATI 96600XT and was entitled to Half-Life 2 and from beignning to end it was a nightmare. I finally removed Steam from my system and forgot about Half-Life/2.
I always tought that fascism via the Patriot Act was the one watching over everyone! hey Big Brother???? How little you know. Communism is about building a classless socierty , and eventually eliminating the state altogether.
