Just my personal preference, but for ships I always go miniaturization (or increase my ship's capacity). I haven't quite done the math, but I'm fairly certain it's usually the best option. Everything else is "it depends".

The Altarians are easily offended but the Krynn, imo, are far more aggressive than any of the normal races. They declare on everyone, regardless of power.
I'm fond of "Planet Bob" (does someone like Titan AE)? There was another that made me chuckle, but I forgot.
They do. Just not as often as they should. I've lost the occasional planet because the AI snuck a transport ship into an undefended planet when I wasn't paying attention.
1.) Disagree wholeheartedly. 2.) Agree. 3.) Agree. 4.) Disagree. This makes no sense. Just because you share a border shouldn't mean you can't trade military techs. What if you and the AI are best of friends and it has a tech that you need (because, say, you're at war with another AI)? 5.) Disagree. 6.) Agree.
Ummm, no, I don't. What did I do?
Usually I go 60/40 research/manufacturing early game and use my starting colony ship to colonize the secondary world that's (usually) next to my homeworld. I tend to make that world 100% manufacturing, and fill every hex with a factory. My homeworld gets a research improvement next to my colony Capital and factories every where else. <span style="fon
That would be a start. So would making it so that the AI can't plop down a starbase in your ZOC. That's really annoying, given how the only way to get rid of it is to declare war and blow it up.
How do you win without a single military vesse ? The AI WILL declare war on you at some point in time. In my current genius level game, I'm number one in military and trying for a culture win, yet the AI still declares on me. Y ou need at least a few vessels to defend your planets. As far as the OP, the only thing that annoys
The Thalan tech tree can definitely be OP. I wonder why they're always such pushovers in my games? Outside of them, I actually really like the Krynn tech tree. It's not as dominating as the Thalan tech tree, but it's really fun to conquer the galaxy without forcibly taking a planet.
A maxed out fleet logistically is about as concentrated as you get. Anything that fights it on an even technological footing will take SIGNIFICANT losses.
FWIW, this isn't necessarily true. Yes, if two fleets meet in the open field, both consisting of the same units, then losses will be about equal between the two (or at least it should). However, that rarely, if ever, happens. Given the fact that you can customize your ships, by
This is actually a problem which isn't only limited to GC3 (it's pretty much the same in any type of 4x game), and it's been brought up before, but the AI is really poor at making the decision to go to war. I'm fairly sure that each unit is given a certain numeric value, and that's what the AI bases its decision to go to war on (i.e., if the AI has a unit ratings of 100 and me 20, then the AI thinks it can win a potential war and will thusly declare). The problem
I have the same issue, but I think I found the problem. When I zoom out, instead playing with a minimal interface, the game runs fine. No freezes or anything. But the moment I zoom in, the game freezes. Well, just the screen. The music still plays and I can even click buttons. I've tried it on multiple computers and it's the same thing, so I know it's not my computer that's the problem. It's got to be some interface issue. I just hope it gets worked out in the futu
