I'm not sure if everyone else has this experience or not, but I find that the Dreadlords event can be a little disappointing. I find usually that they just hunker down near their home planet and don't venture out too much. They don't send out transports either to conquer other worlds, from what I've seen (unlike previous versions). In my view, the Dreadlords should be a more dangerous challenge. I think they could be a good cataclysmic mid to lower-late game event that can potentially

I think you've missed something, which I think is an error. The Basic Railgun has a kinetic attack of 1 and requires thulium as a resource. However, the Superior Railgun has a kinetic attack of 2 but requires no special resource. Perhaps you got them mixed up? I think it makes more sense to have the Superior Railgun require thulium as a resource.
Thank you! I look forward to playing with this update. If you're interested and haven't see this yet, I posted some ideas for apocalyptic mid to near end game mega-events from this thread .
Cool! I look forward to this. Is it being made available on Steam today?
Okay, I've played a few games already in ver. 1.1 of GCIII and here are some issues and bugs I've noticed. No doubt many of these have been pointed out already, but these are ones that I think I stood out for me the most. I noticed that sometimes white bands would show up on the interface screen over the font. This is something that happened in the previous version too. I noticed that this only happens if I repeatedly leave a current game and restart a new game from the
Here's another annoying recurring bug that comes up. I'm sure someone already took note of this, but just in case. I noticed that an outcome from observed animated battle doesn't always reflect the actual outcome of a battle. For instance, when I attacked a shipyard, the animated battle shows me losing. But when it returns to the main screen, I see the shipyard destroyed and all but one of my ships destroyed. This kind of thing happened numerous times. So there's some
I don't know if anyone else noticed this yet, but I think I found a bug in how the AI uses fleets. I was playing the Terrans and conducting a raid near a Drengin held planet. I knew it might be a suicide mission because they had a huge fleet in the planet's orbit. Sure enough, the next turn, they dispatched nearly their whole fleet. They didn't attack my fleet because I might have been just out of range. One thing I found perplexing is that the ships they sent out
I've played the game in a few different map sizes. I've found that the huge galaxy seems to be the best fit when playing all 8 factions. Plenty of room to explore for a while, but it doesn't take that long to encounter and deal with several factions. It seems the right balance. By contrast, when I try 8 factions on a gigantic galaxy, I find that there's very little interaction with other factions for quite some time. In one game, I'm about a third the way through t
Thank you Seilore, for your comments. :) I'm glad the regenerate map and ground combat features are in the works. Awesome! Regarding the AI issues, I think I had the same issue you had with some empires. After I had finished a war with the Krynn, they didn't bother me again for the whole game. It was the Iridium that stubbornly persisted to go to war with me, despite that they didn't have a chance. For some reason, the AI just saw me as weak, when I wasn't. The
Is this list of mega-events available online? I'd be curious to read it. :)
I just completed my first GCIII game recently. I played as the humans on a gigantic galaxy and used the slowest research advancement settings. I won the game with the ascension victory. For the most part, I liked the game, but I think it can use some improvement. Here are my thoughts: At the beginning (Turn 1), after the galaxy is generated, it would be nice to have a "regenerate map" feature much like what Civ5 has. The reason is that I like to have a game where my starting planet is
As a Generation X PC gamer, Master of Orion II remains probably one of my most favourites PC games of all time. So many countless hours I spent with it. I really hope to see something like MOO2, but with much better graphics, sophistication, and other enhancements. I agree that the turn based combat, while fun, would be too slow and clumsy. A real time format, much like GC III's or Gratuitous Space Battles would be better.
I thing I liked about GC II is that you can demand empire A to make peace with another empire B. If I'm in an alliance with empire B, this was a handy tool to end wars that I wanted to stop or be dragged into. I haven't found the ability to do this in GC III, from what I could find. Perhaps some some diplomacy based technology makes that possible? If this is not a feature available in GC III, perhaps it could be added in the future?
This is a modified repost, from something I posted earlier in the main forum. I thought it might be better to have it posted here: I wanted to suggest an idea perhaps for future expansions, if this hasn't been considered already. How about apocalyptic mega-events that happen at latter stages in the game, just to make things interesting? I supposed I'm somewhat inspired by the Civ 4 mod, Fall From the Heaven II scenario. Here are some ideas: 1) A "Return of the Dreadlor
I'm not sure if this has been suggested already, but I think fleets should be able to defend starbases by fighting alongside them in combat (much like the battles in Master of Orion II). Perhaps this can already be done, but I'm not sure how. I feel that if a starbase is weak by its own, then I'd send fleets to protect it. But if any enemy fleets can zip by our defending fleet on its turn to attack the starbase by itself, then it defeats the purpose of sending a defending fleet it
First time player here. Overall, I'm enjoying the game. I'm playing as the Terrans on an immense map. I think I'm about a quarter ways through the game so far. The Krynn have attacked me without provocation! But I'm holding my own because my ships outclass theirs. Here are some of my thoughts: To be honest, with respect to visual appeal, I think I like the GCII map grid layout is a little better than GCIII's. I just like having territorial and starbase boun
The space monster idea sounds interesting. How about this? An extremely powerful alien space monster or alien probe (like the "Vger" probe in Star Trek I perhaps) appears and starts randomly devouring planets and solar systems. Attacking it with fleets will only slow it down a little. The only way to stop it is to construct a device which is assembled from several ancient Precursor artifacts. Legend has it that the Precursors used the device to defeat the threat before. Afterwards, they disas
Thank you Stardock, for the great game! So far I'm good ways through my first game on an immense map. The Krynn have attacked me without provocation! Fortunately, my ships outclass theirs. I wanted to suggest an idea perhaps for future expansions, if this hasn't been considered already. How about apocalyptic mega-events that happen at latter stages in the game, just to make things interesting? I supposed I'm somewhat inspired by the Civ 4 mod, Fall From the Heaven II scena
