1.1 is now unplayable. I'm up to about my 4th game, with the first two being 500 turns without issues The third game got to about 250 turns when the game slowed to the point that it was unplayable. I would simply be suck on wait long after all visible movement had stopped on the map. (I use sensor boats with 60 plus radius) The fourth game had the same thing at 131 tuns. Remind's me of Rome 2 on launch, which is not a good comparison. I'd really like a left/right tab on my shipyards the same as colonies,. I have all of the yards shut down most of the time, so activating and queuing builds takes for ever with 5 yards all over the place. <p
In my game I was sitting on their planets and destroying all of their shipyards, having destroyed all of their ships, for a few turns before they first tried to surrender. They eventually surrendered unconditionally, giving me all of their territory, ship yards and their remaining ship. It was the Altar, or whatever they are called, but it might be different for other races.
