Darvin3 is right. I would say most likely you where outbid at the last second which can happen a lot. Or they where already on thier way to attack that planet before you aquired it. But if they are just passing through then they should keep going even if you defenses kick in and attack them. Personally I have never noticed them stopping to engage if they are just passing through. I play with pirates on about 90% of the time but i must adm
The reason they are willing to patch the game so often is that they can be sure only their customers are receiving them via Impulse, and the 2gig limit is a computing issue that effects every 32 bit piece of software. Supreme Commander for example had to deal with it as well.
I'll second that.

Yes i would have to agree choke points are important an the AI will always stops to fight and will not by pass planets. O ne hint if you are sending in suicide defenders who's only point is to delay till another fleet gets back. You can set the gather point for your ship factories (Yellow place marker) any where even gravity well of other planets so once the ship(s) pop out they will fly directly there and if enemies are there they will attack. Just make sure t

Personally i hate really HATE unwanted ads in any form. Mail,Phone,Email,Fax or Web Popup. It is way too pervasive in so many forms that i figure i will do more to "vote" with my money instead of putting up with that junk for the sake of a game.

The couple games i bought that require steam to start ever time is the biggest pain in the behind. I can't ever see myself buying another game that uses steam i hate it with a passion. In fact i am off to uninstall steam right now. ps I can't stand logging into steam each time i want to play and even worse is the popups at the end trying to sell me more games. The popups at the end when you log off is what killed it for me. pss Uni

Are you using any of the expansions? Even if you have both of them i would personally play a couple games on normal sins before playing with all the expansions. Personally I always stay with 2 cap ship (best warship and colonizer) for a good amount of time and then usally starting adding more mid game.

Today I used the diplomacy tree more than ever. While it was nice to play an us vs them type game having from the start worked on building an alliance with another Vasari while regarding the other non Vasari AI races as enemies or at least non allies. But having said that i hate giving up all that fleet capacity for the benefits. It to me seems to steep a cost. More diplomacy options including affecting the attitude towards a 3rd party. ie Bribe another race

I don't think we need more ships per race. Or go to extremes and make customizable ships in 2 or 3 sizes. Allow higher level ships maybe not with more abilities over all but an extra ability earner only by reaching level 12 like Hero of the Fleet (culture spread due to fame/infamy). How about a customizable defense ship? you know like mini star bases they can never leave the space they are made in with a limit of 2 or 3 or 10 whatever depending on Technology and Strength.
